Dante is a mercenary who has dedicated his life to hunting demons, seeking the meaning of life in the hunt for those who killed his mother and harmed his brother. His father is legendary The Dark Knight Sparda, a demon who rebelled against the Prince of the Underworld, Mundus, and defeated his army. Dante has supernatural abilities, demonic blood makes him very strong and resilient, in addition, Dante can turn into a demon for a short time, losing his human appearance, but becoming more powerful, which, together with the use of weapons, makes him a very difficult opponent. The character was created by game designer Hideki Kamiya to fit Devil May Cry's vision of a person being "cool" and "stylish". Dante has been well received by players, and is often cited as one of the coolest video game characters.

Concept

Dante first debuted in the video game Devil May Cry, which was originally a sequel to the Resident Evil series. Dante was a very strong character who fought monsters in a Gothic castle. This idea was later rejected, and Leon Kennedy returned instead of Dante. The creator of the series, Hideki Kamiya, said that Dante was the prototype main character manga Cobra. Dante's long red cloak was meant to demonstrate his showiness, and his refusal to drink and smoke, according to Hideki, symbolized "coolness."

Characteristics

Dante is half-demon, half-human, the son of Sparda and an earthly woman. Being a half-breed, Dante has the ability to be in either of the two worlds. He is muscular, has silver-white hair with long bangs, blue eyes, and typically wears a red leather cape. Dante's arsenal includes firearms and bladed weapons, including two constant pistols, “Ebony” and “Ivory,” as well as swords “Rebellion” (Rus. Rebel) and "Force Edge" (Russian) Edge of Power). He has superhuman strength inherited from his father, which gives him the ability to temporarily transform into a demon. In this state, Dante possesses enormous strength, high speed and agility. Dante remains confident when facing any opponent, regardless of their size or strength, and often allows himself to taunt them before the fight begins.

Dante is very calm and serene all the time. He is constantly in debt and is unable to pay them. His favorite foods are pizza and strawberry ice cream, but he doesn't like pizza with olives.

Dante in the anime series

Main character anime. He has a bad character, but is skilled with weapons, which often helps him in problematic situations. Has a peculiar sense of humor. He hunts demons that have entered the human world. Usually armed with two pistols: “Ebony” (Rus. Black), "Ivory" (Russian) White), - and the sword “Rebellion” (Rus. Rebel). When it comes to food, she prefers pizza and strawberry dessert. Extremely unlucky in gambling, constantly loses to Lady and Patty.

You can play Devil May Cry 4 for a very long time, enjoying the thoughtful gameplay, the production of videos and the prizes that are given out after completing the next episode. Not all surprises from the developers can be opened using the steamroller method - each mode puts forward serious demands on the player, increasing from level to level. Today we’ll talk about how to survive and show a high level of play in one of the most difficult game modes - Dante Must Die.

The Chronos Key is an interesting artifact that allows you to slow down time.

Ever since the very first Devil May Cry, released back in 2001, the difficulty level of Dante Must Die has been famous for its “not for everyone” mode - only the most persistent demon hunters who have perfected mastery of controlling the hero to the point of automaticity. For everyone else, DMD remained an unattainable dream. But time passed, and games were simplified in order to please the widest possible audience. Devil May Cry 4 was no exception. Our today’s “patient,” although nominally the most difficult there, was no longer a player’s nightmare compared to its predecessor.

In DMC 4, Dante Must Die is moderately interesting and challenging. There are both very tricky places and easy walks where all you need to do is pull the trigger. I will try to describe what will make the process of cutting demons into red balls easier, and talk about some non-obvious things.

Basics

At low difficulty levels, it is quite possible to defeat the game with the help of simple attacks, without bothering yourself too much with knowledge of multi-stage combinations. But then Devil May Cry 4 loses its signature charm of the most interesting combat system in the entire stream of games... And therefore, before telling you about the passage of missions, I will mention popular character control techniques - such as quickly pumping fuel for Nero or “Devastation” ", with which Dante can carry out his most destructive attacks.

For simplicity, we will use the following notations: M - sword strike, D - demonic mode, T - fuel for Nero's sword. Please note that on both the gamepad and keyboard, the default layout is quite awkward, and many players change it. In addition, to perform some of the techniques that will be discussed later, it is simply necessary to change the controls - otherwise you can dislocate your fingers.

And hurry up please!

At first glance, it seems that Dante in the game is much stronger and healthier than Nero - after all, he has five styles, a wide selection of weapons, and unique abilities in demonic mode. Of the similar advantages, the other hero has only pumping fuel onto the sword, making your attacks stronger, as well as adding a couple of especially powerful techniques to your repertoire. However, it is rarely used - at our service there are only three levels, which are enough for either three simple blows or one skill from the “quick knockdown” category. But as soon as a curious player finds items in the list of techniques with the names Instant Rev and MAX-Act, everything will magically change. The fact is that these skills make it possible to pump up fuel immediately after an attack, and the first technique allows you to charge one level, the second - all three. In other words, the need for a long and tedious download disappears immediately.

The usefulness of these skills cannot be overstated, considering that they both apply to already charged moves. However, mastering them is not an easy task. If Instant Rev is more or less democratic towards the player, then the same cannot be said about MAX-Act. But they have the same method of execution - simply press the fuel pump button immediately after the attack.

The easiest way is to press the fuel key a moment after your attack hits the enemy.

If you want to charge not individual techniques, like High Roller, and simple combinations of sword strikes, prepare for difficulties. The fact is that they are performed using pauses between attacks (for example, Combo D - M, M - pause - M, M, M, M), and to pump up fuel you also need to allocate separate moments between attacks. That is, performing the wrong combination that is needed is as easy as shelling pears. Therefore, I suggest forgetting about all the basic attacks, except for the same Combo D, which is relatively easy to perform and charge.

In fact, the execution time of MAX-Act is very similar in all techniques. The button must be pressed at a moment when the attack has not yet been completed, but is about to end. On paper (for a base hit) it looks something like this: M-T, where “-” is the interval time approximately equal to half a second.

Fifteen more laps!

Distortion, or “Devastation” is one of the most effective and easy to perform techniques. It is only available when playing as Dante and fully lives up to its name.

Everything is based on a very unusual flaw in the game, which manifests itself when you turn on demonic mode while performing some kind of move - for example, Real Impact. The idea is that a simple Real Impact consists of three consecutive attacks. But if, while Dante is performing the very first part of the action, you activate Devil Trigger, the number of attacks will increase to four. Considering that a simple Real Impact is already a very powerful technique, in its distortion version it becomes simply a thunderstorm for slow opponents.

Not all techniques will allow you to perform this technique - but even those that exist are enough for the eyes:

Stinger. Activate demonic mode, carry out an attack and turn off Devil Trigger at the very end.

Rising Dragon. Charge the move and while Dante is performing an attack, press D.

Dance Macabre. This requires a little practice - you need to press the demonic form button exactly at the moment when the last attack of this technique hits the enemy.

Real Impact. Turn on Devil Trigger when the first attack hits the enemy. If done correctly, after the third hit, Dante will pause briefly and then add another.

Before we move on to describing enemies and how to chop them into red balls, I would like to talk about some of the intricacies of character control and errors in the program code, which will greatly help in the difficult task of a demon hunter.

Demonic mode has another useful use - while the animation is running after its activation, Nero or Dante are completely invulnerable. You need to use this!

Constantly recharging the revolver. If you play on a gamepad, this technique is available to you, but for some reason all my attempts to perform it on the keyboard ended in fiasco. The bottom line is that the charged level 3 shot from the Blue Rose revolver is an exceptionally strong thing, but it just cooks up very slowly. So, if you change the shooting key, it will be quite possible to carry out “preparatory activities” right during the battle. Why is it necessary to change? The fact is that the default button when charging does not allow you to jump or roll, and this is very unpleasant. But if you change the controls, the enemies will literally tremble. Firstly, when you shoot at a demon, its attack is disrupted. Secondly, at level three, the enemy is engulfed in flames due to a small explosion. The explosion hits all nearby enemies, and their attack is also disrupted. Isn't it a miracle?

Rifles. Everything is clear here - while the roll animation is in progress, the character is invulnerable. Useful, although not as critical as demonic mode.

While the “manual” animation is going on, load the revolver and then shoot. This is best used in Demonic mode, which adds summoned swords to each shot.

Surprisingly, almost every “manual” technique performed in the air causes much more damage to the enemy than on the ground. Only the “electric” (aka Blitz) cannot be lifted into the skies, but in its case the earthly attack is also extremely good.

Don't taunt enemies unless they are on the ground. Yes, at low difficulty levels, the tease is useful - it increases your style rank. But on DMD it is of little use - the enemies react sensitively and, as soon as they understand that you are open to attack, they take advantage of the moment.

If you want Gilgamesh's level 1 charged attacks (of which there are two) to be stronger, try releasing the attack key at the exact moment the gloves sparkle.

There is one trick in the game that borders on terrible cheating. It consists of... rotating the camera. The fact is that if the enemy is not in the field of view of the screen, he cannot attack. At all. That is, it is quite possible to “separate” one enemy from the crowd, turn the camera so that the others are not visible, and bring down a hail of crushing attacks on the poor fellow. Naturally, this technique will not work with bosses.

By the will of fate, I happened to encounter another game flaw. Some enemies, when knocked out, have a disgusting habit of falling under the floor, that is, beyond the level boundary. And okay, this is some kind of flyer, like Mephisto. He'll be able to get out of there. But ground enemies cannot, and if you were to kill all the demons in the location, the mission will have to start over. In my memory, a similar case happened with one game boss - Sanctus (mission 11). True, everything worked out well here: he miraculously climbed up to the level again, and his entire health bar quickly dropped to zero. So be careful.

Enemies

On Dante Must Die, even the most ordinary demons can seriously spoil your nerves, since... they have their own Devil Trigger. Yes, you heard right. The highlight of DMD is not just the increased health of opponents several times or the sharply decreased effectiveness of simple combinations, but the presence of a demonic mode in surrounding enemies.

When the battle starts, the game starts a timer (which, alas, is not displayed on the screen), and if after the time has elapsed you were unable to deal with the enemies in the location, they will activate the Devil Trigger. For each demon, the “entry threshold” is different - for example, if Scarecrows are in demonic mode twenty seconds after the start of the battle, then Frosts give more time - about half a minute. In other words, the stronger and more dangerous the enemy is for you, the more time is allocated for a fair fight. Let's look at tactics against every demon that gets in your way.

Scarecrows

Time: twenty seconds.

Devil Trigger: you can't interrupt their attack.

Nero: the only difference is that you cannot interrupt an enemy's attack when he is in demonic mode. Otherwise, the strategy remains the same: hide in a corner, wait until the enemies gather in a crowd, and use the third level EX-Streak. The increase in style will be noticeable - the points multiplier increases depending on the number of enemies hit by one attack.

Dante: In general, all means are good. But if the fight is not going in your favor, try to attack them from a distance with Over Drive and Honeycomb Fire.

Mega Scarecrows

Time: forty seconds.

Devil Trigger: make three somersault attacks; their attack cannot be interrupted.

Nero: all the same methods, except that you will have to fight more actively. The best techniques here are “manual” ones, after which the enemy lies knocked out for a long time and is susceptible to all attacks. If there are many opponents, separate one from the crowd using Streak and rotate the camera so that the others are not visible. Repeat a certain number of times.

Dante: The Kick 13-Real Impact combo is your best argument against these demons. Mega Scarecrows are very large and usually all three of Real Impact's attacks will find their target. The Dark Slayer style also works very well.

Frosts

Time: thirty seconds.

Devil Trigger: three ice floes in a freezing attack; They don’t react at all to your techniques.

The main villain in the game is very unconvincing.

Nero: remember - under no circumstances use a “manual” technique on them. During its execution, the character is open to all ranged attacks, which Frosts master perfectly. EX-Streak and Double Down work best together with Calibur. Try to intercept their attacks in the air before they activate demonic mode - then the demon will be completely defenseless for several seconds.

Dante: If you can keep them in the attack direction while performing Dance Macabre, use the Dance Macabre-Real Impact combo. It is advisable to activate Distortion while performing both techniques. Some risky players use Real Impact when the demons are just emerging from the ice cocoon, but in this case the chance of running into an attack increases dramatically, so if you are not inclined to extreme things, do not try.

Assaults

Time: thirty-five seconds.

Devil Trigger: blocks are almost impenetrable; will attack twice if they bury themselves in the ground.

Nero: you shouldn’t get into trouble. The best panacea against these demons is the Instant Rev system, with which you can break through their blocks in a minimum amount of time. If surrounded, grab the demons with your hand; none of the enemies can approach the hero for the duration of the technique. And, of course, it would be nice to intercept their attacks in the air, so as not to waste precious time on defense.

Dante: alas, the son of Sparda does not have such effective measures as Nero. Forget about slow weapons, as you will have to attack quickly. The Rebellion sword is quite suitable for the role of the main penetrating force. It's best to use Stinger in demonic mode and then finish them off with Dark Slayer. Dance Macabre will prevent them from attacking, but when performing it you need to be careful, the lizards may well come from behind.

Blitz

Time: two minutes.

Devil Trigger: Every player's nightmare.

Nero: against the strongest enemy in the game and you need to act accordingly. Electricity is perfectly removed with the help of charged shots, but later it is better to treat your enemy with EX-Streak and two “manual” techniques in demonic mode. Finishing it off is a matter of a couple of shots. The point is that all this must be done very quickly: two minutes will fly by unnoticed during a difficult battle. I myself never had a chance to see the “electrician” with Devil Trigger - the monster never got out beyond the required time limit.

Dante: everything is trivial. Blitz gives up against the Pin-Up/Bondage combination, which can greatly reduce his health even if his shield is still intact. What can we say about a defenseless demon... And there is no need to even jump to the side when the enemy tries to explode - switch to the Royal Guard style and boldly block the damage.

Gladius

Time: twenty seconds.

Devil Trigger: There are no differences.

Nero: Is it worth talking about tactics against these defenseless creatures? The only thing I would like to mention is that if there are both Gladius and other enemies at the location, destroy the first ones first. You shouldn’t tempt fate by hoping for rolls and jumps.

Dante: Multiple Slash Dimensions of any kind are great for slaying these demons. Aerial Rave V also works well - it knocks enemies to the ground, where they are vulnerable to any of your attacks.

Chimera Seed

Time: twenty seconds.

Devil Trigger: There are no differences.

Nero: Despite the fact that these demons die from just one “manual” attack, make it a rule to exterminate them first. You don't need chimeras, which are three times more dangerous than their regular counterparts.

Dante: alas, the famous demon hunter does not have a magical limb, so he will have to deal with the demons using conventional methods. Rebellion will do just fine.

Chimera/Chimera Assault

Time: Same as uninfected demons of the same species.

Devil Trigger: Attack with knives twice as often.

Nero: as the unforgettable Doctor from the Doctor Who series said, don’t blink. I mean, you shouldn't stand in one place trying to reach these demons with ranged attacks. Maneuver, simultaneously loading shots and making Maximum Bet.

Time: forty seconds/twenty-five seconds.

Despite its size, the Savior is destroyed relatively easily.

Devil Trigger: the demon is much stronger; You can't knock down attacks with your hand.

Nero: Actually, the tactics for both demons are the same: by combining charged shots, Snatch and the hand, we disable their defense. You shouldn’t hesitate, you need to immediately finish off your defenseless enemy with the most powerful attacks. Just be careful: the camera trick won't have the same impact against these enemies as it does in other battles. Demons move extremely quickly, and for them to cross the border of the cell is a piece of cake. Keep in mind that unless they have activated Demonic Mode, you can interrupt almost any enemy attack with your hand.

Dante: P666: Omen immediately burns their defense, but I don't recommend it due to the snail's speed of execution. Instead, I recommend Air Fireworks at the shotgun - several of these attacks will instantly neutralize the demons. When enemies are defenseless, the Kick 13-Real Impact combo works best.

Bianco Angelo/Alto Angelo

Time: thirty seconds/forty seconds.

Devil Trigger: you cannot interrupt their attack; it is much more difficult to render shields unusable.

Nero: If you have to fight with single knights, it is best to jump behind them, perform a High Roller and immediately grab them with your hand. Enemies can't do anything about it. In the event of a battle with Alto Angelo, try to intercept him defenseless, and then use only “manual” techniques, without alternating them with other attacks. Yes, this will not have the best effect on style points, but the main thing for DMD is to survive. If you fight with a couple of Bianco and Alto, it is better not to attack them at all, but wait for the moment when the demons gather together to charge the energy ball. Load your revolver while they are preparing an attack, and shoot when the sphere heads towards the hero. Nero will automatically reflect it back, giving you an instant SSS rank in style. But you don’t need to aim specifically for this.

Dante: Gilgamesh will help you out again. Kick 13 is great for disabling Biancos, and save Real Impact for their commander. Dante has a lot of attacks that can be used to send the ball back, but I prefer the idea of using Lucifer's Ecstasy, since it has a fairly large damage radius. You can also use Shredder.

Fault

Devil Trigger: absent.

Nero: Does not encounter these demons.

Dante: in general, all means are good here. But the best choice is the Yamato Combo S from Dark Slayer's arsenal. It is quite problematic to give any specific advice due to the type of attack of these demons - they suddenly appear from the ground right under the character and try to swallow him.

Basilisk

Time: twenty seconds.

Devil Trigger: more likely to avoid Snatch; shoot twice in a row.

Nero: The best counter to basilisks is the hand. The “manual” technique is similar to a similar attack against Gladius - these harmful dogs can also be used as a projectile. It's just hard to aim. Please note that staying in one place for more than two seconds in a fight with these demons is an unaffordable luxury, since their attacks are very fast and throw the character back.

Dante: once again the signature Rebellion sword will show itself in all its glory. Stinger in its distortion version and Helmet Breaker work great. By the way, do not try to fire at them from afar - they will instantly reduce their health to a level incompatible with life.

Cutlass

Time: twenty-five seconds.

Devil Trigger: They react weakly to your attacks while in walls.

Nero: Charged shots of any level and Snatch are great at bringing them to the surface. Make a couple of combinations with your sword, and then grab the fish with your hand. Repeat depending on the number of opponents.

Dante: Stinger works pretty much the same way in demon mode. As soon as the enemy appears on the ground, use Real Impact. You can also use PF262: Jealousy - bullets prevent demons from attacking for some time.

Ranking system

In cinematic language this is called a “Mexican draw”.

Let's say you've already completed DMD and are now wondering how you can approach the "Get S-Rank on all missions in Dante Must Die" challenge. So, the counting system in the game is so complex that it requires a detailed analysis.

Remember how we gritted our teeth and tried to get an SS rank on the twentieth mission in Devil May Cry 3? Indeed, the system for calculating your score for a mission in the previous part of the game was a little strange, and only the most skilled demon hunters could achieve the highest marks. The players, naturally, howled, and the developers made a vow: to fix everything in the fourth part. And they restrained him.

Now everything seems to be clear. There are three parameters: time, style points and the number of collected red balls in the level. There are pros for some actions (completing a mission without damage and without using items) and cons (several deaths, a super character, using a golden ball). Based on this, you are scored and given a letter rank. Obviously? At first sight.

In reality, the mechanisms for managing results are far from clear. For example, the penalty for using a golden ball is how many points are deducted from the score? Or on what basis is a letter rank issued - the arithmetic average of all three parameters?

In a word, the explanations regarding the new calculations are not at all superfluous. So, two parameters, pros and cons, do not add points to you at all, but are present as... multipliers depending on your own rank. What are they multiplied by? After each mission, you are given several thousand points simply for completing it, the style points you earned are added to them, and the resulting result begins its difficult journey through the multipliers. That is:

    S-rank for time: ×3

    S-rank for red balls: ×2

Even the Savior cannot resist the hand of Nero.

    No damage: ×1.5

    Without items: ×1.2

    Multiple deaths: ×0.8

Handicap (automatically activated after five inglorious deaths of the hero): x0.8

    Golden ball: ×0.7

    Super character: ×0.2 (!)

Difficulty multipliers:

  • Devil Hunter: ×1

    Son of Sparda: ×1.8

    Dante Must Die: ×3

This is what the counting system looks like in cross-section. As you can see, it is now much easier to get S-rank, especially when playing on high levels difficulties. For example, let's take the tenth mission on Dante Must Die. The player completed it in the shortest possible time, earned a huge amount of style points and collected all the red balls, but at the same time completed the level using a super character. So: 2500 (points for completing) + 11000 (number of style points) multiplied by 3.6 (this multiplier is obtained from the results of all research). That turns out to be 48600. This is only enough for rank C.

Style points, time, number of red balls for a high score for each mission in the Dante Must Die mode are given in tables.

After completing DMD, super characters and one of the prize pictures became available. The latter, in addition to the endless energy on the DevilTrigger, also have several useful properties: Nero charges all hits with fuel, and Dante can use endless defense scales and the DisasterGauge of Pandora’s suitcase. Enjoy!

In this article, we will look at the history of the creation of the popular slasher series Devil May Cry and understand the plot

In 1999, according to Capcom's plan, development of a new numbered part was to begin. The producer of the project, Shinji Mikami, invites Hideki Kamiya to become a director. Kamiya already had experience working on the first two parts. A talented Japanese decides that the project needs fresh ideas.

During development, Kamiya and all Capcom employees realized that they had moved too far away from the Resident Evil canons, and it was decided that the project should become independent. After changing the concept, the game received the name. Thus, Devil May Cry and Resident Evil have much more common ground than it might seem at first glance.

The main idea was to make an action movie. Not a psychological thriller, not a horror, but an exciting action movie. Therefore, the project manager decided to make the locations three-dimensional and the camera dynamic so that it would be focused on the main character. Some key elements Kamiya “borrowed” the gameplay from another game being developed at Capcom. We are talking about .

During a test run of Warlords, Kamiya discovered a bug - enemies did not fall to the ground if they were thrown into the air with one hit and they could continue to be hit. The director of DMC liked this moment so much that he decided to make it part of the combat system of his game. In the future, the bug will be called “jaggle” (from English word"juggle"). You may have heard of this popular move from the world of fighting games.

The backstory of the entire series is as follows: the demon Sparda turned against the lord of the underworld, Mundus, when he fell in love with an earthly girl. Having sealed the world of demons with the help of an amulet and his sword, he divided the amulet into two parts, which later went to his sons - Dante and Virgil. Whoever connects the amulet together will receive the power of Sparda. Actually, this is the main plot of the entire series.

Devil May Cry

Dante is the main character of Devil May Cry. One fine day, a mysterious girl, Trish, comes to him with the obvious intention of killing. Dante, naturally, turns out to be too tough for her. The girl runs away in a hurry, but reports that Mundus has returned and is on a remote island. The protagonist goes to the island and discovers demons and Mundus' henchmen. There he meets Virgil in the demonic form of Nelo Angelo, enslaved by the villain, and receives his part of the amulet. Trish turns out to be a servant of the ruler of the underworld, but because of Dante, she decides to turn away from Mundus. Together they defeat the villain. What happened to Verligius after the defeat is one of the main mysteries that has haunted the minds of fans for a long time.

The first part of Devil May Cry was rated extremely positively, mainly due to its stylish and dynamic gameplay. Some still consider it the best in the entire series, especially in terms of location design.

Devil May Cry 2

Received low ratings from players and critics. This was largely due to Capcom's business strategy. Kamiya was not involved in the game. The development process was extremely difficult. According to official data, the director was Hideaki Itsuno, who had not previously done such things. Itsuno began working on the project when there were 4 months left before the release and it is still unknown who was the game designer of DMC 2 during the main development period.

The plot of the second part is interesting because in the finale Dante went to conquer hell. Long before this, the hero meets a girl named Lucia, who asks to help her defeat a businessman named Arius. The villain wants to conquer the world with the help of demonic power. However, Lucia herself turns out to be an artificial creature created by Arius. After defeating him, the girl asks Dante to kill her, but they are interrupted by the suddenly opened gate to hell. Dante decides to close them from the inside. As a result, he is forced to stay there until he finds his way back.

In the final scene we see Lucia waiting for the hero to return. Hearing the roar of the engine, the girl runs out into the street expecting to meet Dante. But the player will never be shown who has arrived.

In DMC 2, players criticized almost everything. There is no Virgil, no one remembers the female secondary character anymore. The villain is boring, Dante is too gloomy, the combat system is oversaturated with absolutely unnecessary fluff. The only positive thing that was noted was the increased scale of the action. But this turned out to be not enough.

Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening

- one of the most successful parts of the series. She has already been completely entrusted to Hideaki Itsuno. He decided to return to the roots, forget about the second part and improve everything that was in the first. The difficulty was increased, and the combat system was brought to mind. But most often the game is remembered for its crazy staging of plot scenes in which Dante, to the accompaniment of demonic rock, rides on enemies as if on a skateboard and runs over them with a motorcycle.

Plot-wise, DMC 3 is a prequel to the entire series. Brother Dante sought to master his father's power and open a portal to the world of demons with the help of the ancient tower of Temen-ni-gru. For this purpose, he teamed up with a certain Arkham, who told Dante about Virgil’s plans. By manipulating the brothers, Arkham wanted to gain the power of their father, the demon Sparda.

In addition to the video game series, there is an anime series of the same name. The action takes place between the first and fourth parts and tells about the everyday work of the Devil May Cry agency.

During the passage, Dante meets Lady, the daughter of Arkham, who seeks to wipe her father off the face of the earth for killing her mother. And later Virgil himself realizes that he was just a puppet and also joins the hero.

Dante and Vergil manage to defeat Arkham, who was unable to control Sparda's power. After defeating a common enemy, the brothers fight each other, and Dante turns out to be stronger. Virgil decides to stay in hell and ends up in the very depths. Weakened after the fight with Dante, but retaining his part of the amulet, he encounters Mundus in hell. As we know from the first part, Virgil failed to cope with the ruler of hell and ended up enslaved.

Dante and Lady open an office called Devil May Cry.

Dante's Awakening is an icon of the genre. It had everything that people love about slashers. Hurricane combat system, enchanting bosses, combining melee weapons and ranged and the original soundtrack, later released separately. Starting from scratch, Itsuno did everything right.

Devil May Cry 4

The plot takes place after the events of the very first part. Trish and Lady, together with Dante, run a business and kill demons on order. The main character of this part, a certain Nero, is a student of the Order of the Sword, which consists of knights who worship Sparda and use the power of angels to fight demons. But in reality it turns out that their power is of demonic origin.

Realizing how far this can go, Dante, Trish and Lady try to put an end to the order. It all begins with the opening scene in which Dante breaks into the order's sanctum sanctorum and kills its leader Sanctus. After which the player, controlling Nero, will have to fight the main character of all previous parts. Great move by the writers. Dante escapes, and the new protagonist begins the pursuit.

As the story progresses, Nero comes to realize what is happening. And he himself understands how dangerous the order’s flirtations with demonic forces were and teams up with Dante. He later receives Vergil's sword called Yamato, which allows him to open the gates to Hell. The heroes manage to defeat Sanctus, who survived Dante's attack and merged with a huge statue of Sparda.

It is not directly stated in the game, but Nero is the son of Vergil and the grandson of Sparda. Also in the fourth part, a new female character is introduced - Kyrie. She is the opera singer of the Order and Nero's love interest.

Re-released for PS4 and Xbox One There is a separate campaign for Virgil. The time frame is before the events of DMC 3. Players noticed that Virgil's demonic form - Nelo Angelo - is a direct reference to the protagonist of the fourth part. When translated from Japanese, the letters “R” and “L” are interchangeable, so we can assume that we were immediately dealing with Nero Angelo, which translates from Italian as “black angel”. And it’s Italian for a reason - DMC has become the most frivolous adaptation of Dante Alighieri’s The Divine Comedy.

DMC 4 was received, although warmly, without much enthusiasm. Nero is the new protagonist, from the point of view gameplay turned out to be very good, but fans wanted more episodes for Dante. Capcom promised to devote exactly half of the game to his adventures, but in reality gamers received only a third. As a result, sales were low, and Devil May Cry had to be forgotten for a while.

DmC Devil May Cry

In 2013, Capcom rebooted the series with the release of . The project was developed by Ninja Theory ( and ). The announcement of the game caused a lot of discontent due to Dante's updated appearance. This was not an ash-haired, unrestrainedly cool hero, but a brunette and a teenager who had just discovered his strength.

Mundus again became the main villain, but in DmC he, under the guise of an ordinary person, tried to gain complete control over the city of Limbo City. Dante, like Virgil, is a half-demon, half-angel in human form, the so-called Nephilim. As conceived by Ninja Theory, the heroes, unlike the Capcom canon, fight against demons together and generally have similar views.

But after their joint victory over Mundus, Virgil himself wanted to rule humanity. Dante, naturally, turned out to be stronger. Only at the very end did Ninja Theory hint that a demonic entity could awaken in the main character.

The game received positive reviews. The British studio knows how to make slashers, and DmC was no exception. The game had its own style, interesting bosses. However, sales were not as high as Capcom had hoped, and we will most likely never see the continuation of this story.

Devil May Cry 5

The development is carried out by Hideaki Itsuno. Let's look at what we saw in the E3 2018 trailer.

The game takes place several years after the end of the fourth part. The debut trailer shows Nero working for his own demon-slaying agency. With the canonical name Devil May Cry. The hero does not have a demonic hand, nor does he have the Yamato sword. All attention is focused on the third playable character, who is the one who deprived Nero of his right hand.

The new character's name is V, and he main feature- Summoning henchmen of demons. Hideaki Itsuno has already hinted that a clue to V's identity is in the video for the track Devil Trigger, which is heard in the DMC 5 trailer.

Fans have already found images of a woman and her child, as well as a barely noticeable inscription “I have no name.” This is exactly what the Lady answered when Dante asked her name in the third part. All this suggests that V is somehow connected to the Lady. Perhaps he is her son. But the letter V directly hints that Virgil is also related to this mysterious character.

The main theme in the lyrics of Devil Trigger is the desire of a demon to get rid of his body. Let's make the main assumption: Vergil is in the body of the Lady's son and deprived Nero of his hand in order to return his sword. Yes, he crippled his son, but Virgil was never distinguished by the desire to take care of others.
