Dante Devil. DmC: Devil May Cry - Dante is gay. Criticism and reviews

Company Capcom presented the first details of the new part of the Devil May Cry slasher series. The game will be a direct sequel Devil May Cry 4, and will bring back fan-favorite heroes to the game.

The events of Devil May Cry 5 start several years after the ending of the previous game. The craftswoman Niko helps him with this, new character series, which knows how to design deadly equipment and also takes part in battles. In total, in DMC 5, gamers will play as Nero, Niko and the aged Dante.

Nero himself lost his demonic arm, but received the Devil Breaker prosthesis from Niko, which adds variety to the combat system. Each of the characters in Devil May Cry 5 will have their own fighting style, but overall the gameplay will be the fastest in the series, and will allow you to instantly move through space and create combo chains. A new game developed on the RE Engine, and sets a new bar for graphics quality for the franchise.

According to Gamebomb.ru, Devil game May Cry 5 will be released in spring 2019 on PlayStation 4. Xbox One and PC.

In this article, we will look at the history of the creation of the popular slasher series Devil May Cry and understand the plot

In 1999, according to Capcom's plan, development of a new numbered part was to begin. The producer of the project, Shinji Mikami, invites Hideki Kamiya to become a director. Kamiya already had experience working on the first two parts. A talented Japanese decides that the project needs fresh ideas.

During development, Kamiya and all Capcom employees realized that they had gone too far from the canons Resident Evil, and it was decided that the project should become independent. After changing the concept, the game received the name. Thus, Devil May Cry and Resident Evil have much more common ground than it might seem at first glance.

The main idea was to make an action movie. Not a psychological thriller, not a horror, but an exciting action movie. Therefore, the project manager decided to make the locations three-dimensional and the camera dynamic so that it would be focused on the main character. Some key elements Kamiya “borrowed” the gameplay from another game being developed at Capcom. We are talking about .

During a test run of Warlords, Kamiya discovered a bug - enemies did not fall to the ground if they were thrown into the air with one hit and they could continue to be hit. The director of DMC liked this moment so much that he decided to make it part of the combat system of his game. In the future, the bug will be called “jagle” (from English word"juggle"). You may have heard of this popular move from the world of fighting games.

The backstory of the entire series is as follows: the demon Sparda turned against the lord of the underworld, Mundus, when he fell in love with an earthly girl. Having sealed the world of demons with the help of an amulet and his sword, he divided the amulet into two parts, which later went to his sons - Dante and Virgil. Whoever connects the amulet together will receive the power of Sparda. Actually, this is the main plot of the entire series.

Devil May Cry

Dante is the main character of Devil May Cry. One fine day, a mysterious girl, Trish, comes to him with the obvious intention of killing. Dante, naturally, turns out to be too tough for her. The girl runs away in a hurry, but reports that Mundus has returned and is on a remote island. The protagonist goes to the island and discovers demons and Mundus' henchmen. There he meets Virgil in the demonic form of Nelo Angelo, enslaved by the villain, and receives his part of the amulet. Trish turns out to be a servant of the ruler of the underworld, but because of Dante, she decides to turn away from Mundus. Together they defeat the villain. What happened to Verligius after the defeat is one of the main mysteries that has haunted the minds of fans for a long time.

The first part of Devil May Cry was rated extremely positively, mainly due to its stylish and dynamic gameplay. Some still consider it the best in the entire series, especially in terms of location design.

Devil May Cry 2

Received low ratings from players and critics. This was largely due to Capcom's business strategy. Kamiya was not involved in the game. The development process was extremely difficult. According to official information, the director was Hideaki Itsuno, who had never done such things before. Itsuno began working on the project when there were 4 months left before the release and it is still unknown who was the game designer of DMC 2 during the main development period.

The plot of the second part is interesting because in the finale Dante went to conquer hell. Long before this, the hero meets a girl named Lucia, who asks to help her defeat a businessman named Arius. The villain wants to conquer the world with the help of demonic power. However, Lucia herself turns out to be an artificial creature created by Arius. After defeating him, the girl asks Dante to kill her, but they are interrupted by the suddenly opened gate to hell. Dante decides to close them from the inside. As a result, he is forced to stay there until he finds his way back.

In the final scene we see Lucia waiting for the hero to return. Hearing the roar of the engine, the girl runs out into the street expecting to meet Dante. But the player will never be shown who has arrived.

In DMC 2, players criticized almost everything. There is no Virgil, no one remembers the female secondary character anymore. The villain is boring, Dante is too gloomy, the combat system is oversaturated with absolutely unnecessary fluff. The only positive thing that was noted was the increased scale of the action. But this turned out to be not enough.

Devil May Cry 3: Dante's Awakening

- one of the most successful parts of the series. She was already completely entrusted to Hideaki Itsuno. He decided to return to the roots, forget about the second part and improve everything that was in the first. The difficulty was increased, and the combat system was brought to mind. But most often the game is remembered for its crazy staging of plot scenes in which Dante, to the accompaniment of demonic rock, rides on enemies as if on a skateboard and runs over them with a motorcycle.

Plot-wise, DMC 3 is a prequel to the entire series. Brother Dante sought to master his father's power and open a portal to the world of demons with the help of the ancient tower of Temen-ni-gru. For this purpose, he teamed up with a certain Arkham, who told Dante about Virgil’s plans. By manipulating the brothers, Arkham wanted to gain the power of their father, the demon Sparda.

In addition to the video game series, there is an anime series of the same name. The action takes place between the first and fourth parts and tells about the everyday work of the Devil May Cry agency.

During the passage, Dante meets Lady, the daughter of Arkham, who seeks to wipe her father off the face of the earth for killing her mother. And later Virgil himself realizes that he was just a puppet and also joins the hero.

Dante and Vergil manage to defeat Arkham, who was unable to control Sparda's power. After defeating a common enemy, the brothers fight each other, and Dante turns out to be stronger. Virgil decides to stay in hell and ends up in the very depths. Weakened after the fight with Dante, but retaining his part of the amulet, he encounters Mundus in hell. As we know from the first part, Virgil failed to cope with the ruler of hell and ended up enslaved.

Dante and Lady open an office called Devil May Cry.

Dante's Awakening is an icon of the genre. It had everything that people love about slashers. Hurricane combat system, enchanting bosses, combining melee weapons and ranged and the original soundtrack, later released separately. Starting from scratch, Itsuno did everything right.

Devil May Cry 4

The plot takes place after the events of the very first part. Trish and Lady, together with Dante, run a business and kill demons on order. Main character In this part, a certain Nero is a graduate of the Order of the Sword, which consists of knights who worship Sparda and use the power of angels to fight demons. But in reality it turns out that their power is of demonic origin.

Realizing how far this can go, Dante, Trish and Lady try to put an end to the order. It all begins with the opening scene in which Dante breaks into the order's sanctum sanctorum and kills its leader Sanctus. After which the player, controlling Nero, will have to fight the main character of all previous parts. Great move by the writers. Dante escapes, and the new protagonist begins the pursuit.

As the story progresses, Nero comes to realize what is happening. And he himself understands how dangerous the order’s flirtations with demonic forces were and teams up with Dante. He later receives Vergil's sword called Yamato, which allows him to open the gates to Hell. The heroes manage to defeat Sanctus, who survived Dante's attack and merged with a huge statue of Sparda.

The game doesn't directly say that Nero is the son of Vergil and the grandson of Sparda. Also in the fourth part, a new female character is introduced - Kyrie. She is the opera singer of the Order and Nero's love interest.

The re-release for PS4 and Xbox One has a separate campaign for Vergil. The time frame is before the events of DMC 3. Players noticed that Virgil's demonic form - Nelo Angelo - is a direct reference to the protagonist of the fourth part. When translated from Japanese, the letters “R” and “L” are interchangeable, so we can assume that we were immediately dealing with Nero Angelo, which translates from Italian as “black angel”. And it’s Italian for a reason - DMC has become the most frivolous adaptation of Dante Alighieri’s The Divine Comedy.

DMC 4 was received warmly, but without much enthusiasm. Nero is the new protagonist, from the point of view gameplay turned out to be very good, but fans wanted more episodes for Dante. Capcom promised to devote exactly half of the game to his adventures, but in reality gamers received only a third. As a result, sales were low, and Devil May Cry had to be forgotten for a while.

DmC Devil May Cry

In 2013, Capcom rebooted the series with the release of . The project was developed by Ninja Theory ( and ). The announcement of the game caused a lot of discontent due to Dante's updated appearance. This was not an ash-haired, unrestrainedly cool hero, but a brunette and a teenager who had just discovered his strength.

Mundus again became the main villain, but in DmC he, under the guise of an ordinary person, tried to gain complete control over the city of Limbo City. Dante, like Virgil, is a half-demon, half-angel in human form, the so-called Nephilim. As conceived by Ninja Theory, the heroes, unlike the Capcom canon, fight against demons together and generally have similar views.

But after their joint victory over Mundus, Virgil himself wanted to rule humanity. Dante, naturally, turned out to be stronger. Only at the very end did Ninja Theory hint that a demonic entity could awaken in the main character.

The game received positive reviews. The British studio knows how to make slashers, and DmC was no exception. The game had its own style, interesting bosses. However, sales were not as high as Capcom had hoped, and we will most likely never see the continuation of this story.

Devil May Cry 5

The development is carried out by Hideaki Itsuno. Let's look at what we saw in the E3 2018 trailer.

The game takes place several years after the end of the fourth part. The debut trailer shows Nero working for his own demon-slaying agency. With the canonical name Devil May Cry. The hero does not have a demonic hand, nor does he have the Yamato sword. All attention is focused on the third playable character, who is the one who deprived Nero of his right hand.

The new character's name is V, and he main feature- Summoning henchmen of demons. Hideaki Itsuno has already hinted that the clue to V's identity is in the video for the track Devil Trigger, which plays in the DMC 5 trailer.

Fans have already found images of a woman and her child, as well as a barely visible inscription “I have no name.” This is exactly what the Lady answered when Dante asked her name in the third part. All this suggests that V is somehow connected to the Lady. Perhaps he is her son. But the letter V directly hints that Virgil is also related to this mysterious character.

The main theme in the lyrics of Devil Trigger is the desire of a demon to get rid of his body. Let's make the main assumption: Vergil is in the body of the Lady's son and deprived Nero of his hand in order to return his sword. Yes, he crippled his son, but Virgil was never distinguished by the desire to take care of others.

Dante is a fictional character from the Devil May Cry video game series from the Japanese company Capcom. The character of Dante is an integral part of his series, which includes four video games that have sold over nine million copies. He is also featured in several novels, the manga, and the 2007 Devil May Cry anime.
Dante is a mercenary who has dedicated his life to hunting demons, seeking the meaning of life in the hunt for those who killed his mother and harmed his brother. His father is legendary The Dark Knight Sparda, a demon who rebelled against the Prince of the Underworld, Mundus, and defeated his army. Dante has supernatural abilities, demonic blood makes him very strong and resilient, in addition, Dante can turn into a demon for a short time, losing his human appearance, but becoming more powerful, which, together with the use of weapons, makes him a very difficult opponent. The character was created by game designer Hideki Kamiya to fit Devil May Cry's vision of a "cool" and "stylish" person. Dante has been well received by players, and is often cited as one of the coolest video game characters.
Dante first debuted in the video game Devil May Cry, which was originally a sequel to the Resident Evil series. Series creator Hideki Kamiya said that Dante was based on main character manga Cobra. Dante's long red cloak was meant to demonstrate his glamor, and his refusal to drink and smoke, according to Hideki, symbolized "coolness."
Characteristics:
Dante is half-demon, half-human, the son of Sparda and an earthly woman. Being a half-breed, Dante has the ability to be in either of the two worlds. He is muscular, has silver-white hair, blue eyes, and typically wears a red leather cape. Dante's arsenal includes firearms and bladed weapons, including the two constant pistols "Ebony" and "Ivory", as well as the swords "Rebellion" and "Force Edge". He has superhuman strength inherited from his father, which gives him the ability to temporarily transform into a demon. In this state, Dante has enormous strength, high speed and agility, and a large supply of health. Dante remains confident when facing any opponent, regardless of their size or strength, and often allows himself to taunt them before the fight begins.
Dante is very calm and serene all the time. He is constantly in debt and is unable to pay them. His favorite food is pizza and strawberry ice cream.
Dante has a twin brother - Virgil. Both brothers were raised by their mother named Eva, an ordinary person. While Sparda was away, the family was attacked by demons of Mundus, during which Eve died. This event influenced Dante's choice of main occupation, who chose the path of a demon hunter. Later, Dante often clashed with his brother Virgil in fierce battles. The reason for this was Virgil’s choice of a different path in life - he decided to become a demon lord, seeking for this knowledge about his father and his sword Edge of Power. During the events of Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening, the brothers separated for a long time - Virgil was defeated in another battle with Dante (the battle took place in the world of demons) and jumped into the abyss. The main character tried to prevent his brother from falling and pulled his hand towards him to catch him, but in response to this, Virgil wounded Dante with a swing of his sword, thereby cutting the glove. At the end of the plot, Virgil, like his father earlier, becomes a prisoner in the world of demons, where he enters into battle with the Prince of Darkness Mundus. Having got out, Dante shed tears. This proves that his brother was dear to him, in whose memory only a torn glove remained...

Concept

Dante first debuted in the video game Devil May Cry, which was originally a sequel to the Resident Evil series. Dante was a very strong character who fought monsters in a Gothic castle. This idea was later rejected, and Leon Kennedy returned instead of Dante. The creator of the series, Hideki Kamiya, said that Dante was based on the main character of the manga Cobra. Dante's long red cloak was meant to demonstrate his showiness, and his refusal to drink and smoke, according to Hideki, symbolized "coolness."

Dante in the anime series

The main character of the anime. He has a bad character, but is skilled with weapons, which often helps him in problematic situations. Has a peculiar sense of humor. When it comes to food, she prefers pizza and strawberry dessert. Extremely unlucky in gambling, constantly loses to Lady and Patty.
