Godville is a violation of the traditions of gaming culture. Godville - a game for inadequate people Guilds: what is it

Short review ZRPG (Zero Player Game) using the example of the game "Godville"

ZRPG

This genre appeared relatively recently and initially did not receive much fame. The main idea in it is based on the fact that your game character is a completely independent person and does not need control “from above”. Perhaps in advice or indication of the general vector of development.
Thus, the player takes on the role of an outside observer without the possibility of direct intervention in the game. "Boring!" - you say, but, oddly enough, there were so many people who wanted to “play without playing” that the ZRPG genre firmly occupied its niche in the minds and hearts of users.
To the very famous games This genre includes "Progress Quest", "Godville" and "Fairy Tale"
Godville
The ambitious project, which was the first to occupy the niche of Russian-language ZRPGs, is now a classic of the genre.
The player is invited to try on the role of a god and acquire a kind of apostle - a hero who will develop completely independently, take and complete tasks, have pets, build a temple to his god and do other things that the player does with or without pleasure in an RPG.

It is noteworthy that the game was conceived as a continuous parody of, literally, everyone and everything. Therefore, the names of objects, cities, creatures, bosses, and even simple actions of the hero, which he constantly reports to the player, are all allusions, jokes and references to famous games, books, films and personalities.
Like ordinary players, our hero has a character, and only you are responsible for what he will become in the future. Will your hero help the suffering and donate buds left and right, growing them with living water? Will he beat babies with candy he has previously taken from them? Or will he be known as an inveterate don’t care and try to stay away from good and evil? All this will be on your conscience.
Your hero learns and develops in the image and likeness of his god, that is, you. And to influence your mentee, you have only two options: “Do it well” and “Do it poorly.” Not only the instant result of using divine powers, but the character of your hero depends on your choice.

You have no goal as such - this is a purely contemplative game. But as the hero develops, new opportunities will become available to him, which not only expand the gameplay for you, but open up new opportunities for fun. So play, watch and have fun!

Genre rating
Pros:
No gaming skills required. Relax and have fun.
Humor. Lots of humor. Even more humor.
Games in this genre are not just changeable - they are created by the ideas of the players themselves.
ZRPG mechanics require so few resources that you can enjoy the game even on the most monstrous computers.

Minuses:
Boring. Unfortunately, no matter how many changes there are, sooner or later everything gets boring. In this case, as a rule, it’s not the game that gets boring, but the whole genre.
Almost complete absence of activity from the player himself. On the other hand, you were warned.

Godville Game Rating
All of the above and...
Pros:
Absolute flexibility of the game. You yourself determine the degree of your presence in the game world, although you cannot influence directly under any circumstances.
Simple and intuitive interface.
An original world, living by its own rules and traditions.
Continuously expanding content.
The presence of a sane Wiki, directly integrated into the game and being an integral part of it. In the game itself she is nicknamed Encyclobogia.

Minuses:
Music lovers will have to play something of their own in parallel with the game.
Sometimes, heroes begin to do something completely unnecessary. For example, they leave the guild in which they achieved high rank. And you still can't influence it in any way.
The game is not "addictive". As a rule, it remains at the level “in parallel with something active”.

Total:
Both the entire genre and Godville specifically are perfect for those who want to take a break from constant intense battles and large-scale battles. Calmness, humor and a sense of your own divine greatness - what else is needed for pleasure?

Still, the Internet is a very funny thing. In addition to being the largest information dump in the world, the World Wide Web can also be considered a portal to other dimensions. No, we will not talk about mysticism and magic - although about them too. Hand on heart, it should be said that there are a lot of online games (especially with fantasy themes) now. So much that even such a giant as World of Warcraft slowly began to lose ground, reluctantly giving way to assertive newcomers, promising and not so promising. So much that all this variety of names and worlds already dazzles the eyes, and the next running hack-and-slash games with elves, orcs, gnomes and other fantasy creatures have already set the teeth on edge.

One day a couple of enthusiastic developers thought about this, quite tired of this endless kaleidoscope. And they decided to create the game Godville.net (Godville). Not just a game, but "game without a player" (Zero Player Game), in which the player, taking on the role of God, only creates his character, but does not control him. Well, and, for that matter, it’s worth going through all the cliches, templates and stereotypes role playing games, and not only online. This is how the Abode of the Gods, Godville, was born.

If you haven’t realized it yet, Godville is a text game with elements of the PRG genre, but with many of its own nuances. You need to delve into this world gradually, slowly, and not everyone will understand it. The complete lack of graphics, I think, will immediately scare off many. Although the loyal public very warmly accepted this text ZPG, the main pillars of which are unbridled banter at everyone and everything. This is approximately what it looks like game world games (clickable).

Godville has guilds, towns, monster battles, quests, trophies, duels, etc. On the website godville.net you will find a gaming newspaper with various interesting reading material (there is a godville crossword puzzle), as well as a link to an encyclo-godgy containing all the information about the game (Wiki style).

Mobile application for Godville

You can watch your hero not only through the browser, but also using mobile application, which very skillfully transfers this entire hotbed of role-playing positivity to smartphones and tablets. The developers put a lot of effort into this application, because they succeeded in the seemingly impossible - in just two megabytes an entire website is contained, stuffed with a whole lot of java scripts responsible for the presence of a great and merciless randomness. You can find it on iTunes and Google Play. There is also a client for Windows Phone.

Of course, the application allows you to enjoy the adventures of a hero “created in the image and likeness” only if you have an Internet connection - this is an online game after all! But at the same time, the main scripts of the site were fully transferred to the application. Due to this, instant synchronization with the source site occurs, which has the best effect on the performance of the application.

The mobile Godville also has a pretty nice color scheme - just like on the original game website, you can choose a color scheme to suit every taste. If we talk further about the design, we cannot help but note its ergonomics - all the necessary character screens are within walking distance; you just need to scroll to the desired tab to go to the hero’s inventory or to the Divine Intervention Panel.

There is also a built-in browser that allows you to go to Encyclobogy, the local equivalent of Wikipedia, and other Godville online services. It would also be useful to note that the game is constantly updated, and news about the next update can be obtained without even going into Google Play or AppStore – the application itself will notify you about the next update and offer to read about what’s new this time has been brought to the mobile “Godville”.

If we say about the application in one word, then the word would be “delicious”. This is truly a very tasty application that allows you to play your favorite online ZPG anywhere and anytime. And the number of Godville fans, thanks to him, continues to increase. Indeed, who will pass by a game in which the player is required to do only one thing - sit, read everything that happens to the unlucky hero, and tear his stomach from laughter!

Online game Godville

The free online browser game Godville is a representative of the rare ZPG (zero player game) genre, where the player is not even required to directly participate in the character’s life.

Have you dreamed of becoming a god? Who wouldn't want a comfortable heated throne with lots of soft pillows? And also sip viscous nectar, listen to the play of a sweet-voiced harp and periodically go out into the blooming Garden of Eden? Don't worry, you will only dream of peace from now on!

You create your ward - a good-for-nothing tramp with a neutral character, no equipment, penniless and, apparently, without an ounce of sense of self-preservation. As soon as you turn away, the hero immediately squanders his money in a tavern, fights with a terrible monster (and, of course, is defeated), allows himself to be deceived by some salesman... In general, he leads a riotous life. So this cannot be done without your divine intervention. We treat a weakened ward who enters the arena with herbs and wonderful rain, we encourage him in every possible way, but as soon as he goes along an oblique path, we scare him with lightning.

Rare genre Online Games Godville allows you to observe the actions of the character, which are recorded in his diary. Thanks to the prano remote control, you can give certain commands to your ward, encourage his actions, or vice versa - show your dissatisfaction. In this masterpiece of madness, your character will master the skills of “hippopotamus grace” or “childish surprise”, arm himself with a catgun, fight a scarecrow and tame a ceiling lamp chewer.

Feel like a god!

We will talk about the browser game Godville. Frankly speaking, this game is unusual, if only because you don’t actually need to play it (that is, you won’t have to do almost anything in it).

Previously, I could sit for hours, and sometimes even days, staring at the monitor and playing computer games. I played through some of the gaming industry's creations several times (Age of Empires 2, Quake 3: Arena, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, Fable, StarCraft, Disciples 2, Heroes of Might and Magic 3 and many others) and a separate note could be written about each of them separately, but we are not talking about them now.

GodVille is completely different from all these games. In it you don't have to jump, run, solve puzzles, etc. You will be required to sit in front of the monitor in a soft chair and watch what is happening on the screen, occasionally interfering with game process. Actually, the game has no beautiful graphics (there are only letters and numbers), no music or any sounds, no gameplay in the usual sense, no... In general, let's move on to what it has, and this is: humor, jokes and various laughers.

Now to the essence of the game. You act as a deity and are given a hero to look after. Your hero will travel to a variety of places with funny names (Pustosvyatovo, Big Hangovers, Yomaevo, etc.) and fight no less funny monsters and monsters (Abracadabra, Cthulhulloid Lovecraftoid, Raccoon Raccoon), as well as other heroes. Gradually, by increasing levels, your hero will acquire all sorts of goodies (new armor, weapons, pets, skills, friends, rank in the guild) and over time you will even be able to take a high place in one of the Pantheons (of which there are 14).

You can influence the hero in several ways: you can “Do good” or “Do bad” to him (provided that you have enough prana, which is restored over time after the prayers of your hero or after you charge it yourself), or you can order him to do something by writing instructions. But in the second case, your hero is unlikely to understand what you want from him (as a rule, it comes to him after 5-8 times).

The main goal of the game is to build a temple in your honor and this process is very long. You can speed it up by fighting in the arena and defeating other heroes, for which you will receive bricks from which your hero will build a temple. In general, there are a lot of other interesting things in the game (not for everyone, of course), so it’s better to see it once than to hear it a hundred times. By the way, if you are great with humor, then you can contribute to this game by inventing and adding your own creativity to it.

Now some numbers, based on my own example. In more than 2 months, my hero ZloyIchigo reached level 23 and collected 7% of the necessary bricks for the temple, and also killed about 9,000 monsters. From these figures it becomes clear how long it will take me to build the temple.

The game is constantly being improved, something new appears in it, and what is not in demand disappears. There are no limits to human imagination, so the game can be improved endlessly and this is pleasing.

The main advantage of the GodVille game is that you don’t need to sit in it for hours, you just need to look into it once or twice a day. And you can spend the rest of your time on something more important.

Godville: this one incredible game a very rare genre - ZPG (zero player game). The player plays the role of God, albeit a small God. The gamer has a hero who just needs to be created, and then he exists on his own. Mikhail Platov is the creator of this application. Yes, one person!

Gameplay

In theory, he is not here. You watch the hero write down everything he does in a diary. He also gets items and money by killing monsters. God cannot intervene, but he can send a message to the hero. It will be highlighted in blue in the diary. There may also be gray entries - these are messages from other players, you can vote “yes” for them and leave them, or “no” and it will disappear. God can also do something good or bad to the hero. And this will also appear in the diary. For such an action you need prana: for 25% you will do something with the hero, and for 5% you will send a message. Prana is restored by the hero, he must himself express prayers for God.

Section tabs: statistics of the main character

Hero Tab

In this tab you can find out everything about the hero.

  • The name of the God whom the hero worships.
  • The name of the hero himself.
  • Age.
  • Character of the hero.
  • Number of bricks for a temple dedicated to God.
  • Level.
  • The task that is currently active.
  • Number of coins.
  • Number of monsters killed.
  • Number of deaths.

Things Tab

In this tab you can find out what the hero has picked up and what is in his equipment. For example: he can use a sharp pencil as a weapon, a sheet of paper as a shield, etc. He can use absolutely any thing. Naturally, things have an indicator, the better.

Friends Tab

Alas, you can’t just go and make friends. You need to find the “Invite Godville” item. Although you can make friends without an invite. The hero will also make friends with someone himself. Friends can help on the hike, you can invite them to training battles or just talk to him.

Pantheons tab

This is a fun place to compare your character to others.

There are three types of pantheons:

  • General - show all the heroes who have reached their rank.
  • Operational - open after level 7. Here they show the hero's progress relative to other heroes. But a hero is thrown out of the pantheon if the owner has not appeared for more than 5 days.
  • Guild - friends of the guild in which the hero is located

Guilds: what are they?

The hero himself joins the guild when he reaches level 12. In theory, guilds don't mean anything in this game.

The game also contains a parody of Wikipedia - "Encyclobogy". This book tells almost EVERYTHING about Godville: the towns, the monsters, etc.

Other goodies

The game has VERY, VERY, VERY many references, both to songs and to some TV series, cartoons, books, etc.

The player can send any text or phrase to social networks or take a picture with the selected text.

It is IMPOSSIBLE to force a hero to do something. Just push for it. God can't force him to go into town or start doing anything. All this is decided by the hero himself.
