From the Czech Warhorse Studios it was striking in its ambition. The developers promised not just a huge open world, but also realism - the plot of the game develops against the backdrop of real historical events in the Czech Republic that led to the Hussite Wars.

Compiling the selection turned out to be more difficult than it seemed. Fantasy games are a dime a dozen, but authenticity and realism are brought to our region less often than we would like :)

For Honor

Strictly speaking, call For Honor a game like Kingdom Come Deliverance is only possible conditionally, since the plot component here is in its infancy, there is no trace of the “role-playing” characteristic of RPG games, and only the medieval surroundings make the projects similar.

But, if the main thing for you in Kingdom Come were fights with melee weapons, then this component is presented here in abundance, moreover, you can finally find out experimentally who was cooler: knights, Vikings or samurai :)

Chivalry: Medieval Warfare

A multiplayer action game in which you can organize large-scale battles, besiege castles and carry out bloody raids on local settlements... in general, do the ordinary and everyday things of those years.

Again, such a different project in its essence becomes a game in the style of Kingdom Come Deliverance when it comes to one-on-one battles, thanks to a well-developed melee combat system and a huge arsenal, including: swords, battle axes, spears (including throwing ones) and bows with crossbows.

Mount & Blade

Despite the third-person camera angle, the melee mechanics are in no way inferior in their sophistication to those in Kingdom Come. To win a fight, it’s not enough to be able to quickly tap the left mouse button; the right balance between defense and attack is the key to victory in any game.

The project was released in 2008 and it’s difficult to call the graphics outstanding, however, thanks to various additions, incl. The game has a lot of fans to this day for multiplayer Warband (I recommend paying attention to the complete edition of Mount & Blade Full Collection). Well, for those who prefer graphic design, it makes sense to wait for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, the release of which is just around the corner.

The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt

An action-RPG based on the works of Mr. Andrzej Sapkowski, it stands out from the crowd of similar ones because of the attention of the developers to the seemingly insignificant details of the life of medieval people. And, even though formally, this is a classic representative of the fantasy genre, it is not difficult to imagine that the game was created on a historical basis.

The combat system in Witcher 3 is not so complicated, interspersed with magical attacks, which Geralt uses with enviable consistency, but it can’t be called primitive either - the opponents come across different types and you won’t be able to pass them all in a hurry.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim

Despite the complete lack of any authenticity, it is Skyrim that most closely fits the definition of a game like Kingdom Come Deliverance.

The huge open world of the game and the perspective of the game camera make these projects similar, but in addition to the striking similarities, there is also a spiritual kinship between the games - the freedom to choose your own path, which is a characteristic feature for.

As in Kingdom Come Deliverance, in Mount and Blade The action takes place in Europe, and it is also realistic, albeit with a third-person view. Yes, it has a completely different level of authenticity, but both games are similar in the combat part - in Mount and Blade player is also forced to find a balance between defense and attack, using various blocking and attacking techniques. This is an important part of the game, and it's a lot of fun.

If you've just finished playing Kingdom Come, Mount and Blade's graphics may be a bit disappointing, but it boasts amazing attention to detail and arguably some of the best melee mechanics you'll ever see. I'm sure you'll quickly forget about the outdated picture. Of course, after the release of the Warband expansion, when multiplayer was added to the game, achieving perfection in swordsmanship became a much more pressing matter. Despite the game's advanced age, it has a fairly active community that regularly practices bloody battles, so the servers still look lively. For those who want to try a taste of new historical periods, there is a spin-off of Mount and Blade - Napoleonic Wars. And it's worth mentioning the game's full-fledged sequel, due out later this year.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Despite the fact that the cult third “The Witcher” has enough magic and monsters, it has enough parallels with. To begin with, there is not much fantasy in Geralt's adventures, which is why The Witcher 3 becomes much closer to the war-torn Middle Ages than high-profile franchises like Skyrim or ". The hopeless, miserable life of many NPCs and fearful distrust instead of reverent reverence makes Sapkowski’s world similar to Martin’s “Game of Thrones”. The towns and villages are amazingly detailed and feature authentic architectural designs. of Eastern Europe. And the luxurious views of plains, forests and winding rivers echo the beautiful landscapes of Kingdom Come: Deliverance.

As for the combat system, along with the ability to throw fire from your fingers and manipulate the enemy’s consciousness, fencing itself has been seriously simplified. There is a parry, a dodge and a target lock system, that's all. This is rather a traditional hack-n-slash, quite far from the calculated battles of the Warhorse studio's epic. But as an immersive RPG in a medieval setting, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has no competitors.

Chivalry: Medieval Warfare

Apart from the obvious fact that the game has a similar setting, Chivalry: Medieval Warfare also uses a first-person melee combat system. In addition, you can try, where there is no need to worry about accuracy and careful planning of attacks. Hack and slash, there is no need to select the right weapon for the enemy’s armor. Still, if you are looking for a game similar to Kingdom Come: Deliverance in appearance and at least somewhat internally, then Chivalry is a good candidate for this role.

The game has plenty of different modes, including team-based modes like Capture the Flag and King of the Hill, but it's the one-on-one combat that makes Chivalry most similar to Kingdom Come. There are also several classes that take a long time to master, and all three have sold a million and two hundred thousand copies (PC, Xbox One and PS4) platforms provide the game with more than lively online play.

For Honor

Ubisoft's attempt to break into the melee PvP genre, For Honor feels like a simplified version of Mount and Blade's multiplayer, only with much nicer graphics and accessible gameplay. Of course, the fencing here doesn't have nearly the same amount of subtlety that the fights in Kingdom Come abound in, but the fluid animation and speed are perfect for competitive play.

It's a shame, but For Honor can't offer an interesting single-player campaign, nor one that's at least immersive. And with their presence they in a certain way neutralize any atmosphere of medieval Europe. However, if duels were what attracted you to Kingdom Come: Deliverance, then For Honor can offer you something similar, only online, and against other players.

Life is Feudal

Kingdom Come: Deliverance, by combining different survival mechanics, managed to offer players new experience V role playing games. And, if in it your constant worries were Henry’s hunger and the lack of a roof over your head at night, then in a medieval MMO you simply won’t want to sleep.

In this game, thousands of players try to survive in eight square miles of authentically recreated European Middle Ages. A complex economy, cooperative construction of buildings and large-scale battles are what you will encounter in this cruel world. You are free to go anywhere and do whatever you want. Life is Feudal is still at the stage open beta, but without a doubt, this is a realistic and brutal reflection of Europe's dark times, which is worth plunging into for every Kingdom Come fan.

Here's how the game's plot is described on the official website:

Bohemia is a land in the very center of Europe, famous for its culture, silver and many castles. After the death of the people's beloved ruler, Emperor Charles IV, dark times came for these places. War, corruption and controversy are tearing the pearl of the Holy Roman Empire apart.

Wenceslas, one of the sons of Charles IV, inherited the throne, but, unlike his father, he turned out to be a narrow-minded, weak-willed and unprincipled monarch. His half-brother, the Hungarian king Sigismund, sensed the weakness of the new ruler. Under a plausible pretext, Sigismund goes to Bohemia and kidnaps Wenceslas. Now that there is no longer a king in Bohemia, he can ruin it with impunity and appropriate all its wealth for himself.

In the middle of all this chaos, your character finds himself - the son of the blacksmith Henry.

Peaceful life was destroyed by the mercenaries of King Sigismund, who, on his personal orders, burned your home village to the ground. You became one of the few who were lucky enough to survive this massacre.

Having lost your home, family and plans for the future, you enter the service of Sir Radzig, who is trying to organize resistance to the invasion. Fate draws you into this bloody confrontation and throws you straight into the thick of civil war, where you will have to contribute to the fight for the future of Bohemia.

Get even with your past and become a hero!
