"Thugs" at the first meeting look like a natural guest from the past. This has really not been done for a long time. The prime mover of RenderWare is beating in the chest of the project, games on which have been released for more than five years. The shabby graphic "pedigree" results in a faded picture, flaunting purely blurry textures and low-poly characters. There is no need to talk about the presence of any modern special effects - they simply were not delivered. On the other hand, the negative effect is smoothed out by a very nice design and quite decent animation. As for the fights, they proceed quite dynamically: the hero chops enemies into cabbage, using, in addition to standard techniques, blocks and several special powerful blows. For those killed, experience is awarded, which (upon reaching a new level) can be distributed to improve one of three characteristics (defense, shooting, fencing) and choose a new perk. The system of perks is very similar to that of Fallout, except that it is more modest - there are active skills (activated by pressing a button) and passive (acting constantly).
The nautical part, in turn, is divided into two stages. The first is a journey across a global map, which is exactly like its paper counterpart, except that it is interactive. During the exploration of archipelagos and bays, the player comes across numerous government and merchant ships, which, if desired, can immediately be robbed. This process should be approached carefully: the game honestly warns about the equipment of the probable victim and does not recommend starting the exchange of cores if your piece of equipment does not correspond to the class of the enemy. But if you do get involved in battle, the game will jump to the next, local level of the battle. Here the player has an opportunity for a wide maneuver: the ship gets three levels of movement speed and can be accelerated due to the installed steam engine. The latter has a habit of overheating, so it should be operated with an eye to the readings of the temperature sensor. A salvo of onboard guns occurs in a classic way - when the ship turns with its side to the enemy, at the moment of convergence to an effective distance.
