What programs are allowed on pokerstars. Allowed software and list of prohibited programs PokerStars. Automatic landing scripts

Internet poker is becoming more and more popular. Due to its great popularity, developers create many programs for other poker rooms to make it easier to play in online battles and help in earning money.

PokerStars has a different attitude towards such software. The poker room has determined that some assistant programs can be used. But there are also programs that give those who use them an obvious advantage. Therefore, there is a list of allowed PokerStars programs and many prohibited PokerStars programs.

Why was it decided this way? There are programs aimed at improving the game. This can be achieved by reading a useful book or typing gaming experience. But there are players who do not study, but create teams that play on team tactics. The poker room cannot allow players to be deceived; this is a blow to its reputation.

The PokerStars security service has determined that there are poker programs close to the concept of fraud. All such software is considered prohibited software by PokerStars. This also applies to resold databases. After all, those who have such a base know everything about players with whom they have never played before. These poker programs are strictly prohibited on PokerStars.

In order to discuss what can and cannot be used on PokerStars, a list has been created that indicates the permitted PokerStars programs. Those programs for PokerStars that are on the list have been carefully checked by expert services. You can use:
Programs for receiving tips on odds or programs that provide recommendations for playing the initial hand;

Programs that save information on distributions in which the player directly participated;

Macros designed to configure the interface and control.
The full list of permitted programs is large - 102 programs can be used. There is a lot of good software on the list, like everyone’s favorite Holdem Manager.

It is not allowed to use software for PokerStars:

Allowing you to exchange data on closed cards, create a common database or use programs for team play;

It is prohibited to use applications that play without a person or reduce the need for human participation in the game. For example, autofolders.

It is prohibited to use programs that advise how to play.

There are 57 programs on the PokerStars list of prohibited software. The list is also available on the poker room website.

Special offers for players of our site

Fair competition in poker involves using your own intelligence, gaming experience, and ensuring equal conditions for your opponents. Playing online poker, users can use software that provides an advantage. By using approved PokerStars programs, an experienced player can significantly increase their earnings. The use of prohibited applications leads to account blocking and withdrawal of funds.

We offer instructions explaining the rules of use third party programs tools at PokerStars, including detailed up-to-date lists of permitted and prohibited software.

Rules for using poker software at PokerStars

The poker room does not restrict players from using software tools that do not provide a clear advantage over their opponents. The room allows the use of programs, the successful operation of which requires gaming experience. The room divides auxiliary applications into three categories:

  • Allowed completely at any time.
  • Prohibited when the game client is running. It cannot be launched if the PokerStars platform is running, even if the user is not logged in or does not play for money.
  • Prohibited at any time - cannot be installed on a PC and cannot be launched, even if the poker client is closed.

Penalties for breaking the rules

Using the poker client, the room identifies players who use the second and third categories of software, violating the rules. The gaming platform is able to determine which programs are installed and running on the player’s PC - the user allows this by confirming agreement with the rules during registration.

A letter from the security service with a warning.

Single and minor violations of the PokerStars poker software usually result in a warning being sent to the email address provided during registration. Punishments in the form of blocking and sometimes confiscation of funds are imposed on players:

  • Those using software with particularly harmful functions (bots, exchange of data about closed cards, etc.).
  • Repeatedly violating the rules after receiving a warning from the poker site security service.
  • Take measures to prevent third-party programs from being detected on your PC.
  • Using tools of their own design that are not included in the prohibited lists, but violate the rules.

How to avoid blocking

It is necessary to check the installed software against the lists of prohibited items, and do not install programs that are not included in the permitted lists. Before launching the poker client, it is recommended to close unnecessary applications - browser, instant messengers and tools allowed for use outside the game.

If you doubt the possibility of using third-party software, contact technical support in advance, providing the name and description of the functionality.

Types of permitted programs

Users are allowed to use programs for PokerStars that do not provide a clear advantage in the game.

Statistical software

It is allowed to use tools that collect statistics of the player and opponents while the user is at the gaming table. Functionality is limited - the displayed statistics should not depend on gameplay and the opponent's behavior.

Tracker Hold'em Manager 2, built into a poker table during real game.

Poker players who use popular statistical trackers often acquire established databases for specific disciplines and table limits. Exchange and purchase of databases are prohibited; you must use data collected during your own session.

Hotkey management

Services for setting up hot keys are allowed provided that they provide more convenient control, but do not provide an advantage to the poker player. It's okay to assign specific actions to keys, but it's not okay to let macros choose the command themselves.

Example: Allowed to configure a hotkey for a bet of 1/3 of the bank. A macro that selects a random bet value in a given range is prohibited.

Tournament Applications

It is allowed to use software that makes it easier to track tournament statistics - showing the remaining and elapsed time of the game, the average stack of opponents, the position of the poker player relative to opponents, etc.

Organization of a multi-table game

PokerStars clients can use software that makes it easier to play a multi-table game. It is allowed to crop the table interface, automatically distribute them across the screen, highlight games with strong cards, and switch between tables. However, the program should not search for tables based on opponents and statistics for the poker player, perform automatic boarding, or take a turn.

If you have been using multi-table games for a long time, review the rules. In 2019, new requirements regarding automatic landing scripts were introduced.

List of allowed software

The rules of the poker room indicate sample list permitted programs - does not include a complete list, is periodically supplemented and changed. The poker site recommends checking with technical support the status of each application that the player plans to install.

Applications with usage restrictions

A poker player can install some software tools without violating the rules of the poker room, but they cannot be launched while the poker client is running. Additional restrictions are imposed on certain functions of applications launched simultaneously with the gaming platform.

Poker calculators

The ban includes calculators that perform advanced calculations, ICM, optimal ranges and other indicators that allow the player to find out the optimal solution in a particular situation. The prohibited category includes calculators that operate automatically and require manual data entry.

Outside the game, the poker player has the right to use the specified software for analysis gaming session, training.

Programs for PokerStars that contain reference materials that suggest profitable actions in various situations, or facilitate access to charts are prohibited. This category includes various poker strategy simulators with ready-made or defined charts. In some versions, the help functions can be disabled, allowing them to run simultaneously with the client.

Other applications

It is not prohibited to install and use tools that are not on the prohibited list when the poker application is closed, unless they carry particularly harmful functions.
Shareware software

When opening the gaming platform, make sure to close applications that cannot be launched while the game client is running and that the software is not running in the background. If certain functions are prohibited, disable them or do not use them.

Messengers

The category includes a wide range of popular instant messengers that allow players to exchange information about hole cards during the game in real time. This does not mean that you cannot use Skype and other instant messengers that provide access to your desktop.

During the game, Skype and other messaging services can only be used for correspondence and video calls, without giving the interlocutor access to the PC desktop.

List of programs with restrictions on the use of functions

Prohibited PokerStars programs

The rules of the room prohibit any tools that provide the poker player with obvious advantages, allow the exchange of data about closed cards, make decisions for the player, or automate individual actions. Profile blocking is imposed even if the client used software with the listed functions that was not included in the prohibited list.

Live streaming of a live game on Twitch channels is not considered hole card sharing and will not be penalized. The opponents are in the same position - each opponent can obtain information about the pocket hand of the broadcast hero.

Bots

Bots are software that perform game actions for the user - selecting and announcing a solution, determining the bet range, controlling interface keys, etc. This category does not include tools that make it easier to control gameplay using hotkeys.

Prompters

Prompters are applications that provide direct hints - indicating the optimal solution, bet size, etc. This category includes calculators that calculate indicators that the user could not determine on his own.

Example: A calculator that calculates Equity based on the opponent's hand range performs a prohibited function. A calculator that calculates Equity against random opponent's hands can be used (Hold'em Indicator).

Automatic landing scripts

They select the optimal tables and single-table tournaments for the player, perform automatic registration, boarding or take a queue. Versions that select games based on table statistics and the composition of participants are prohibited (they find games with the loosest playing field, allow you to pursue weak opponents).

Search for rivals

Some programs for PokerStars find a player by nickname, statistical indicators and tell the poker player the location - cash table, tournament. The ban can be overcome by manually searching for an opponent - by viewing the composition of the table participants or the tournament in the lobby. Manual search is labor-intensive, but not prohibited.

To avoid blocking your account and funds, we recommend that you strictly adhere to the rules of the game at PokerStars. Check out the top 15 best auxiliaries software, which allows you to improve your strategy, analyze the session, and obtain statistical and mathematical data during a real game.

We have already written that from March 1, PokerStars will introduce new rules regarding auxiliary software, which will include auto-boarding for them. However, this is far from full list changes and the ban will also affect the operation of HUD and some other aspects.

In the comments to the last article, players asked for more details about the ban and to provide the original source of information, so we have prepared a complete list of changes that will allow us to understand what was and what will happen in the poker room from March 1st. We present the rules themselves in the original, in English, to avoid discrepancies, and below you will see short comments from us.

Software for selecting tables

Old rules

Allowed:
1.4) Macros and hotkeys that are not related to game logic...

Forbidden:
3.2) Any programs or services that work with a common database of players, their hands, results and profiles are prohibited.
3.6) Any programs or services that are designed to manipulate opponents in games where you cannot choose the gaming table yourself, such as Spin & Go’s, are prohibited.

As you can see, previously it was possible to use programs that selected tables based on players’ color marks or data available in the poker tracker database, which made any sit scripts, such as table scanners, completely legal.

New rules

Forbidden:
- Any programs or services that are designed to manipulate opponents in games where you cannot choose the game table yourself, such as in Spin & Go’s, are prohibited.
- Any programs or services designed for effective table selection that in any way filter or sort the available tables, as well as automate or semi-automate the process of seating at a table, based on statistics and/or notes/tags of opponents, are prohibited. For example, sit scripts that place you at tables where players have averages above or below a given value, or that process pre-assigned player tags. You are allowed to use only those sit scripts that simply add the required number of tables to you, without taking into account your opponents.

What means?

In fact, this means a complete ban for all programs that somehow filter or sort players, and also allow to at least to some extent automate and simplify the process of seating at the table, based on player statistics from the tracker database or notes/tags in the client poker room.

These are the most dramatic changes that have affected auxiliary programs and have already been covered in one way or another earlier. Judging by the comments and response from players, the majority evaluate these innovations quite positively.

It is worth noting that programs that allow you to add the required number of tables, without taking into account the players sitting at them, remain permitted, that is, simply “open X tables of such and such a limit/buy-in.”

Helper programs and hotkeys

Old rules

Allowed:
1.4) Macros and hotkeys that are not related to game logic. For example, you can use AutoHotKey, MacroExpress or AutoIt3 to place a pot-sized bet when you press the P button, but you cannot use programs that will fold bad starting hands for you or recommend that or other game action.

Forbidden:
3.3) Any programs or services that allow you to play without human participation (“bots”) or reduce the requirements for a person to play are prohibited. For example, any auto-folders are prohibited.

The simplest macros were allowed, it was possible to determine the current trading street, display to the player his pot odds and the visibility of the time bank button. At the same time, it was forbidden to use relative position (understanding whether we are on an opponent in position or without it), taking into account his current action and the strength of his hand, regardless of whether these are our cards or they are common on the table.

New rules

Allowed:
1.4) Macros and hotkeys, which are designed to increase the efficiency of the gameplay, but do not reduce the requirements for the player making decisions...

Forbidden:
3.1) Any programs and services that play without your intervention (“bots”) or that reduce a person’s need to make decisions...
3.3) Any programs and services that delay the player’s decision by a given or random amount.

The restrictions that existed remained, but they were supplemented by a ban on making bets of a random size, and all programs that allowed the player’s action delay to be set to a constant or random value were also banned.

What means?

In general, it cannot be said that any fundamental changes have taken place in this section, but “the nuts have been tightened a little.” You can still set a bet of a given value, for example, 50% of the pot or 75% of the pot, but you cannot set a random bet in the range from 50 to 75% with one hotkey.

Also banned were programs such as TimeMojo, which allowed you to randomize and change the timing of your bets. In other words, you won’t be able to quickly “click” the button without getting burned by your Instagram actions.

Charts and other supporting material

Old rules

Allowed:
1.2) Programs and services that are static reference material and are of a basic nature, for example, a simple table with a chart starting hands.

Forbidden:
2.1) Any tool or reference material that offers advice or commentary beyond the basic level, such as a set of separate starting hand tables based on stack size, decision trees or huds that change dynamically based on player actions and strength his hands.

All normal starting hand charts or Nash tables were allowed and did not change based on table action. Any advanced charts that adjusted to your position or the actions of your opponents were prohibited.

New rules

Allowed:
1.2) Reference material that is static and basic in nature, such as simple tables based on starting hands that show whether they should be played or not in an open-raising situation.

Forbidden:
2.1) Reference material that provides advice beyond the basic level, for example, a large collection of tables that gives any recommendations beyond how or not to play hands in open pots.
2.2) Programs and services that are designed specifically to facilitate access to reference materials.
3.2) Any programs or services that give advice in real time about what action to take based on the current state of the game (“bots”).

PokerStars has significantly clarified the rules regarding the use of hand charts and they can now be used if they meet the following 2 conditions:

  • The chart should show which combination of starting hands to play or not to play, given that the player is the first to enter the game. Moreover, it is prohibited to indicate the % with which a player needs to call/raise a certain hand.
  • The chart must be converted into 9 matrices 13\13, which give a hint to play\not play\mix a given hand without indicating the proportions.

What means?

The terms may seem a little confusing when you first read them, so let's clarify. The first point actually concerns software developers. Previously, it was enough for programs to simply “freeze” the ability to switch tabs if the poker client was turned on, and the rest of the time they could still be quite dynamic, but now you need to either completely “darken” the displayed information, or forcefully shut down the software when you turn on the PokerStars client.

The second point means that, in fact, from March 1, all Nash charts will be prohibited, since it includes too many options depending on the stack size and does not fit into the given framework. In theory, you can create new charts that will meet the requirements if the stack size is divided into just 9 clusters.

Poker trackers and HUD

Old rules

Allowed:
1.3) Programs and services that track and display digital statistics in the game, but use only the data that you collected yourself during the game.

Forbidden:
2.1) Any programs or services that offer solutions and advice that go beyond the basic level, such as a set of separate starting hand tables based on stack size, decision trees or HUDs that dynamically change depending on the player's actions or strength hands.

Dynamic cheats, which could change statistics during the game depending on the current street, the actions of opponents, or even the cards on the board, were prohibited. It was also prohibited from automatically dividing and marking opponents based on their tendencies and actions. Any charts (ala NoteCaddy Scatter) and complex graphs were prohibited, but a "temperature gauge" such as 0 to 100 was allowed, displaying a player's VPIP.

At the same time, it was allowed to automatically change the thin depending on the indicators that were known at the time of the distribution (stacks, position, etc.), which made it possible to legally use the positional thin from Hand2Note.

New rules

Forbidden:
1.3) ... There are qualitative restrictions on any statistics displayed in the game, for example, the impossibility of dividing them based on the strength of your hand. There are also limitations to the functions of programs that display statistics, regarding the impossibility of automatically changing the displayed data depending on the state of the game or the tendencies of opponents.
HUDs cannot dynamically change based on any information about the current state of the game other than the game format or opponents' nicknames. For example, changing statistics displayed based on stack size or table position is prohibited.

Now the conditions have been tightened even more and the ban applies to changes in weight depending on the size of the stack or the position of opponents, as well as other parameters that do not determine the type of game.

What means?

As a result, positional HUDs are now also banned on PokerStars, which reduces the advantages of Hand2Note over other trackers to almost zero. It is allowed to use only ordinary static thins, which do not change in any way during the hands. However, the following automatic HUD adjustments are permitted:

Automatic HUD change when the blind level changes in tournaments.

Automatic change of HUD when moving to the HU stage of a tournament.

Automatically hide the HUD if the player folds.

On click hotkey, the appearance of the HUD can be changed as desired.

The last point still allows you to take advantage of a number of advantages of a positional hood, albeit in a semi-automatic mode. The Hand2Note developers assured that these changes will be made to the program in the near future.

conclusions

To summarize, we can say that these changes, although they have reduced a number of opportunities for regulars, are nevertheless, on the whole, quite adequate. PokerStars did not go crazy and completely ban all poker software, but only cut a number of automated functions. Personally, what I regret most from the entire list is the inability to use positional, which was a fairly convenient tool for the game, which made it possible to significantly reduce the size of the hood without losing its effectiveness.

If you play on PokerStars, then make sure that by March 1 you will have updated all the poker software you use, which by that time the developers will have to bring to modern requirements of the poker room, and also be careful with those programs whose update has been abandoned (for example, TimeMojo), because they can set you up for a ban.

Almost a month ago, the poker community learned about a “helper” for heads-up players from the player “Skier_5”.

The poker community on this topic is mainly divided into two camps

Opinion against the ban:

“For me it is much more interesting than playing live: I enjoy using different programs and devices to study in more detail, as well as using the HUD to correctly use the theory in practice.

Don't ignore the fact that many players enjoy using the software. Of course, I don’t deny that there are those who don’t like it at all.

But this modern world, and the poker world with the ban will not correspond to the spirit of the times. If you want to be interesting to the younger generation, then you need to keep up with technological developments, and not turn poker into a boring, old-fashioned game."

“The problem is not the programs, but the bots. Most winning players on PLO100 and PLO200 are bots. And the Stars don't do anything about it.

That's why all our debates about banning HUD or Notecaddy are just meaningless arguments. Bots have already taken over the game, and the Stars don’t take it into account.”
