Traveling to the resorts of the Dominican Republic for up to 30 days does not oblige Russians to obtain a visa. This fact explains the great popularity of this trend in Russia. And even if a month was not enough, obtaining any documents is not required. A person simply comes to the police station, pays a fee of 60 Dominican pesos (about 85 rubles) and continues to live in the country. In order to cross the border, you only need a valid foreign passport. But already upon entering the Dominican Republic, a migration card is issued and a tourist card is purchased.

Purchasing a tourist card

This document must be purchased before the passport control area. Usually the card is purchased from established machines. You can arrange it in advance, even before departure. To do this, you can contact the travel agency where you purchased the tour, the Consulate of the Dominican Republic, or arrange it yourself on the official website of the Department of Internal Affairs.

Online payment is made using a bank card. After specifying all the data, the form is printed and presented at the airport during passport control. The card contains a barcode, which when printed should not be smudged or unclear or faded. The main thing is that border guards can easily scan it. The document can only be used for one entry into the Dominican Republic each year.

Migration card

The migration card is filled out immediately upon arrival in the country. Although it is often proposed to do this already on board the plane in order to speed up the passage of passengers through the border control point. As a rule, flight attendants help Russian tourists fill out the form and avoid mistakes by providing a sample and translating the fields that require filling out. The fields are filled out as carefully as possible to avoid typos (they are excluded), although many tourists note that the authorities try not to spend a lot of time checking them thoroughly.

Basic filling rules

According to the rules, the migration card must be filled out:

  • an ordinary ballpoint or capillary pen;
  • block letters;
  • Latin alphabet

The form must be filled out by every person entering, including minors. The accuracy of the data provided is confirmed by a personal signature.

The following fields must be filled in on the migration card to enter the Dominican Republic:

  • arrival and departure airports (Puerto de desembarque and embarque, respectively), as well as flight numbers (vuelo No);
  • purpose of the visit (motivo de Viaje) – in most cases it is tourism (recreo), although there are also options for “business”, “education”, “visiting friends and relatives” and others;
  • duration of visit (estadia);
  • passport details (numero de pasaporte).

Below, in the “Firma” column, the signature of the person entering the Dominican Republic is placed. Knowing the basic rules and the translation of the fields to be filled in, a person does not even need a sample to fill out.

The Dominican Republic is a well-known world premium resort. Every year thousands of tourists fly to the Dominican Republic to vacation, so local authorities have introduced visa-free entry into the republic for many countries, provided that the expected period of stay in the Dominican Republic will not exceed 30 days.

Sample filling

The Dominican Republic migration card is most often filled out in duplicate on the plane. It is issued by flight attendants. If problems arise with filling, the flight attendant is obliged to advise the tourist.

Documents for entry to the Dominican Republic

A visa to the Dominican Republic is not required for Russians, but you should have the following documents with you:
  • international passport
  • hotel reservation or travel voucher
  • return plane ticket from the Dominican Republic
  • tourist card
  • migration card.
Minor tourists who are traveling to the country without legal representatives or with only one of them must have a notarized travel permit with them.

So, you have arrived in the Dominican Republic, most likely at Punta Cana airport. You need to find a machine that sells “tourist cards”. It has the corresponding inscription “tourist cards” or “tarjeta del tourista” (this is in Spanish). This is where we buy this document. It is better to stock up on a 10 US dollar bill in advance.

Even if you pass first, you will still be waiting for all the other travelers near the bus. You have a group transfer, everyone is waiting for the very last person to go to the hotel.

You can also choose which currency to pay in, either 10 dollars or 10 euros. Just in case, if you do not have American currency, but have European currency, you can pay with it.

After this, the “tourist card” needs to be filled out, which causes difficulties for many, since there are no inscriptions in Russian. All explanatory notes are made in English and Spanish. The fact that it is not free makes it even more scary. There are people at Punta Cana Airport who will fill it out for you for the modest sum of $5.

The form of the document changes frequently and, perhaps, you will receive a copy that is not exactly the same as the one we provide.

The map consists of two parts. The top (large) one will be taken from you when going through passport control. The second (bottom) one will be left for you, and you should keep it for the rest of the trip.

The procedure for filling out the top part of the tourist card to the Dominican Republic. Click on photo to enlarge.

First column (1) intended for your last name. Copy exactly from your foreign passport in Latin letters. For example, “IVANOV”

In the second column (2) enter your name exactly like in the passport. For example, “IGOR”.

Third line (3) intended for your date of birth. We write first the day, then the month and then the last two digits of the year. Example – “16 06 83”.

On the fourth line (4) need to write your nationality. Write “RUSSIA” or “RUSSIAN”.

In one of the squares at number five (5) you need to check the box indicating What's your gender. Don’t get confused, the top square is a man, and the bottom one is a woman.

On the sixth line (6) write your passport number. Copy from your passport. A space between the series and the number may or may not be left. As you wish. Example – “76 984562”.

To the seventh line (7) enter your flight number. Example – “SU152”.

Eighth field (8)- This your country of residence. Write “RUSSIA”.

In the ninth field (9) need to write your permanent residence address. No one will check your spelling, write as you wish. Example “Moscow, ulitsa Stroiteley, 25-17”.

Tenth field (10) seems mysterious to many. This is additional information about region of your residence. Americans write the name of their state here. You can write “Samarskaya oblast” or “Moscowskaya oblast” or simply “Moscow”.

In the eleventh column (11) You must indicate the name and address of your hotel. Write only the hotel name, there will be no complaints against you.

Twelfth Earl (12)– yours occupation. Write “worker” or “manager”, no one will check.

Field number thirteen (13) – marital status. The left square is not married (single), the right one is married (married).

At number fourteen (14) need to be specified purpose of your visit to the Dominican Republic. Place a check in the top left box. It means “rest.” Of course, the Dominicans uniquely translated the Spanish word “recreo” into English language. English word“pleasure” literally translates as “pleasure.”

The picture on the left shows a correctly filled out “tourist card”. You can use it as a sample.

Fifteenth line (15) misleads many with its name in Spanish “FIRMA”. Most importantly, do not write here the name of the company you work for! Here you need put your signature.

And in the last sixteenth column (16) need to indicate how many days will you stay in the Dominican Republic.

The lower part is filled a little differently. Fields (1), (2), (3) and (4) exactly the same, it's last name, first name, date of birth and citizenship.

In the fifth column (5) need to be specified your departure destination from the Dominican Republic. That is, we indicate the city to which we will fly back. Write “MOSCOW”, “SAINT-PETERSBURG” or “EKATERINBURG”.

In the sixth column (6) write return flight number to my homeland.

In the seventh line (7) write date of departure from the country. That is, the date, month and year when you will fly from the Dominican Republic.

For an example of correctly filling out the second part of the “tourist card”, see the photo on the left. Click on photo to enlarge.

You keep this part with you and keep it until your flight from the Dominican Republic to your homeland. You will need to present it at passport control. It’s better to put it in your passport right away so as not to lose it.

Most importantly, don't put it in your luggage. This is the most common problem situation, since luggage is checked in before passport control.
