Bungie has opened up access to the beta version of Destiny 2 to everyone - now all PC owners can get acquainted with the second part of the Guardians' story, regardless of whether they pre-order the game.
How to take the test
First you need to download and install Blizzard app Battle.net. You can download it. During the process you will need to create account Blizzard, it's quite simple.

After installation, launch Blizzard Battle.net and find Destiny 2 in the list of games, it is located in the Activision subsection. All that remains is to download the game client (it weighs about 15 gigabytes) and you can go on an adventure.

If the download button is grayed out: Try restarting the Battle.net client.

Things to do in the Destiny 2 Beta
Firstly, you can complete the single mission “Homecoming” - this is the very first mission of the Destiny 2 story campaign, during which the attack of the Red Legion occurs.

After training, it's worth paying attention to the "Inverted Spire" raid, in which three Guardian players deal with the Vex.

There is also a PvP mode, “The Crucible,” in which two teams of 4 players each fight each other. In beta, this mode has two maps: Downtown and Javelin 4.

What could go wrong
The Destiny 2 closed beta test on PC greeted players with “Saxophone” and “Chive” errors; it’s hard to say how smooth the start of the open test will be.

Judging by the feedback from participants in the closed test, there are almost no complaints about the game itself: the optimization of the PC version of Destiny 2 is at a good level.

To be on the safe side, please review the list of known issues and remember that some video recording apps and overlays will not work on Destiny 2 PC.

What about system requirements
Destiny 2 is not too demanding on the video card and processor. If you do not plan to play in 4K resolution, then a card of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 970 level will be enough for you. During the presentations, Bungie launched the game on PC with a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti video card, but here the developers were most likely playing it safe.

Minimum System Requirements
  • CPU: Core i3-3250 or FX-4350
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 660 2 GB or Radeon HD 7850 2 GB
  • RAM: 6 GB
Recommended System Requirements
  • CPU: Core i5-2400 or Ryzen R5 1600X
  • GPU: GeForce GTX 970 or Radeon R9 390
  • RAM: 8 GB

How to switch to Russian
The Destiny 2 beta may default to English localization. To change the language to Russian, you need to open the game settings in Battle.net (screenshot below) and in the “Destiny 2 (beta)” section, select Russian in the “Text and Audio Language” drop-down menu.

Let's try the main console shooter on PC.

The Destiny 2 open beta test is running on PC from August 29 to August 31, starting at 8:00 p.m. After the controversial first part, in which there was enough content only towards the end of the life cycle, Bungie needed to fulfill many promises: develop the plot and setting, get rid of hours of grinding, pleasing both newcomers and fans of the first part.

Newbie effect

Beta test starts with story mission, which _xCwFJwTYII showed in the very first gameplay video: a city of people was unexpectedly attacked by enemies, you need to protect civilians, and then turn off the shields on the enemy’s flagship.

The action takes place in the “Last City”, a huge planet-like Wanderer hangs over it, and the “Bloody Legion” of the cabal race acts as insidious enemies. The protagonist is helped by Ikora, Cade and Zavala. In short, the player is immediately bombarded with a lot of proper names, connected both with the events of the first part and with the universe as a whole. If this is really the first mission, before which there will be no introductory video, then newcomers will be a little uncomfortable due to the abundance of unfamiliar words.

For those who played the first part, the situation is the opposite: as we have already found out, experienced players like to see “live” characters with whom they previously only communicated via walkie-talkie, and to defend the location where they spent dozens of hours.

Guns and skills

For the second part, Bungie slightly reworked the weapon system. The player has three slots: kinetic, energy and force. The first holds regular cannons, the second - with elemental damage from, for example, fire or lightning, and the third - powerful weapons like a grenade launcher.

There are three classes in the game: titan, hunter and warlock. The first one “tanks” and puts up shields, the second one deals damage and moves quickly, and the third one strengthens companions and controls the battlefield. Each of them has two subclasses with different grenades, perks and “supers” - that's what ultimate abilities are called in Destiny. They gradually accumulate, and after use they allow you to organize a complete doomsday on the battlefield. For example, a warlock subclass called the Blade of Dawn grows fiery wings and begins to throw fiery projectiles at enemies, and the Storm Runner, a hunter subclass, strikes with an energy staff.

Gameplay

In addition to the story mission, three more activities were available in the beta: the cooperative PvE raid “Inverted Spire” for three players and two multiplayer maps. In the first, it was necessary to control points, in the second, to place charges and defend them. The opposing team, accordingly, had to neutralize them.

Judging by information from the developers, PvP will only feature four-on-four battles. The game will also feature a clan system - players will be able to join groups with their own flag and receive bonuses for joint participation in activities. In beta, clans were not available.

Technical component

The PC version was not developed by Bungie, but by a third-party studio, Vicarious Visions, the authors of the recent Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. Usually this is an alarm bell, but in the case of Destiny 2, there seems to be nothing to fear. On PC, the game will support 4K resolution (we were not able to test this), there are no frame rate restrictions and there is support for modern 21:9 monitors. There are no dedicated servers in the game.

The engine in Destiny 2 is the same as in the first part - Tiger Engine, but with improvements. There will also be regional restrictions in the PC version.

General impressions

The review of the beta version of the sequel to the acclaimed mmofps from bungie can be divided into two parts, for those who played the original and for those who are not familiar with the universe at all Destiny. But the second part of my story could be a review of the first part by any gaming journalist, with some adjustments for the few innovations in the sequel, since there are no truly revolutionary changes in the game. All changes are most likely evolutionary in nature. Beta Destiny 2 is very stingy with content. Bungie invited us to try ourselves only in the first story chapter, which lasts about half an hour, in one strike (a cooperative adventure for three players) and pvp arena in 4 by 4 format. But, despite the small amount of content and large gaming experience from the first Destiny, I already have my first impressions of the game.

A little about the plot. As expected, in Destiny 2 we have to fight the red cabal legion led by Dominus Ghaul. You can find out the background to the conflict here
The first story chapter is very exciting and dynamic in the spirit of games from the Call of duty or Halo series. In it we try unsuccessfully to repel the attack of the cabals. It is impossible not to notice the huge number of explosions, spectacular scripted scenes, as well as three magnificent cinematics. The game takes us to the beginning of the journey and shows how we have lost all the strength and “gear” that we earned with sweat and blood in the first part.

As for the first strike (a cooperative adventure for three players), the mechanics have not changed at all. Our squad had to break through to the boss with the desired “loot” through hordes of old friends Vex and Kabal. I don’t consider this a minus, since the classic structure of dungeons for all MMORPGs completely satisfies me.

But in pvp there are no revelations at all. Classic for Destiny The pvp arena “City Center” with the new Countdown mode did not evoke any special emotions in me, but in fairness I must say that reducing the number of players from twelve to eight does not in any way affect the dynamics of what is happening, due to the rules of the new mode for planting/protecting the bomb.

The picture in the game has become a little brighter and more saturated. It’s especially noticeable how the developers worked with fire. The game's engine has not changed, but has been slightly redesigned. And in general, we can say that the graphics have been freshened, but not that they have changed radically.

Gameplay Destiny 2 remained almost the same as its predecessor, with the exception of some pleasant changes for me personally, which I missed when watching the first game videos. At first it seemed to me that the simplification of the talent tree for all characters was a definite minus, but during the game I learned that each character had one active ability added and this innovation greatly refreshes the gameplay. For example, titans can put up shields, sorcerers create an aura that increases damage or defense, and the “blink” removed from hunters’ talents is pumped into active abilities to complement the classic jump.

On this moment that's all I can tell you about the innovations introduced in Destiny 2. The impressions I received during the beta test were mostly positive. There is a little more than a month left before the full release of the game, and only then we will be able to take the game apart.
Have a good game!

What could go wrong in the Destiny 2 beta?

Destiny 2 Beta Practical Tips

In this part we will help you not to get lost in everything that provides Destiny 2 beta and don't waste your time.

Choose the right class

We know that in Destiny 2 beta Three classes will be available: Titan, Warlock and Hunter. To know what to expect, you need to understand the characteristics of each class. Basically, they differ in armor, mobile abilities, loot and hand-to-hand combat animations.

Titan - Armor

Titan's main skill is armor, and it helps not only those who play for him. Destiny 2 is based on cooperation (like any other game in the multiplayer first-person shooter genre), and Titan can form a block for his teammates, as shown in the first Destiny 2 trailer. Titans also have a boost that helps them stay in the air longer than usual when jumping and move short distances (like a jetpack, only shorter distance).

Warlock - Support

This class has the weakest armor of all existing ones Destiny 2 classes. The Warlock can deal a lot of damage over a long distance, and their ability is to stay in the air longer than other classes. Rift placement - their class skill - allows you to heal or increase the attack of teammates located within a certain radius.

Hunter - Most likely stealth

At the Hunter's medium armor, they are fans of knives (their hand-to-hand combat trick is a knife strike). They also commit double jump and dodging/aiming while they are in the jump. They are more like solo players than others, like snipers who deny camping.

What subclasses will be in the Destiny 2 beta?

Typically, players stick to their chosen class and can choose different subclasses as they level up. The system is used to earn experience - upgrade the ability of a certain subclass. They differ in abilities and weapons.

After Destiny 2 release dates 6 subclasses will be available. While it will pass Destiny 2 beta, three will be available:

  • Titan: Striker (Arc)
  • Hunter: Gunslinger (Solar)
  • Warlock: Voidwalker (Void)

Unfortunately, it won’t be possible to test the full skill tree of each subclass, and there’s really no point in doing so. The main thing is to feel game mechanics each class, which is quite good for a beta test.

What class should I play as in the Destiny 2 beta?

Two days would be enough to play a little with each of the available classes. But if there is a certain preference - why not play alone, gain experience, and then transfer it to the game after Destiny 2 release dates? And it’s no longer starting from scratch. The class you choose depends on what role you choose to play in FPS games.
