Console exclusives on PC or PlayStation Now review. Console exclusives on PC or PlayStation Now review All PC exclusives

I officially announce that we are witnessing the revival of gaming for personal computers. If you're dedicated to keeping up with the latest technology, you can enjoy gaming in 4K resolution without being limited by frame rates in any way. But even on a much more modest PC for the price of a modern console, you can run almost any game with quite decent graphics settings.

But, like any other gaming hardware, a PC is only as good as Interesting games they create for him. Fortunately, recently almost all ports are made very well (with a couple of high-profile exceptions) and are available on the same day as the console versions. In addition, PC has its own set of exclusives. And below we will pay attention to the seventeen most interesting, in our opinion, games whose PC-exclusive release should take place in 2015 or 2016. In short, PlayStation Now is an official Sony service that allows you to play games from the family of consoles of the same name on personal computers. In more detail, further in the text a detailed PlayStation review Now with all its advantages and disadvantages, and towards the end of the article there are instructions for installing and configuring the service.

However, first, it’s worth paying attention to the fact that many have probably already heard about this “thing” within, or more precisely within, where the service was briefly described. However, there the information was presented in a generalized form, which is quite justified, since we were talking about a specific game and paying too much attention to one program to launch it would be inappropriate. But within the framework of blogs, there are no such restrictions and you can look in more detail at everything related to PlayStation Now and understand whether it is worth paying attention to the service now and whether it has a future?

Seven days and a pack of free exclusives

PlayStation Now (hereinafter referred to as PS Now) is based on cloud technology. All games are launched on remote Sony servers, and the player, using a special client application, transmits control commands and receives in response streaming video recording of the gameplay in real time.

Access to the service is provided through a monthly subscription model, the price of which is quite significant and stays at around twenty dollars, but for all newcomers there is a pleasant bonus in the form of seven days of free trial access to the entire library of games without any restrictions. The library, by the way, is quite extensive and includes many projects, including: The Last of Us, Red Dead: Redemption, Uncharted 2: Among thieves, Demon's Souls, Infamous 2, Beyond: Two Souls, Yakuza 5, Ratchet & Clank series, Resistance 3, Twisted Metal, Heavy Rain and many other games. Of course, the service does not have the latest exclusives, and a significant part of the library consists of various indie projects and standard games available on many platforms, but the library is not limited to “old stuff” and is regularly replenished once a month. Sometimes PS4 games also appear, including Until Dawn, KIllzone: Shadow Fall, God of War 3 Remastered and a number of other projects. Read more about the list available games you can follow the link.

Fly in the ointment in a mug with exclusives

Next, before moving on to analyzing how well it all works, contrary to sound logic and established traditions, let’s first go over the main shortcomings of the service.
The first, albeit conditional, but at the same time the most big problem is the lack of official support for the service in the Russian Federation. Actually, for this reason, PS Now did not find much response among domestic players. However, despite the lack of support, you can use the service, but only if you have a Western PSN account. Creating such an account yourself is not a problem, but the biggest difficulty is that the service requires you to link bank card. In this case, you need to link exactly the data of one of the countries where the service is already launched, since the use of domestic details only leads to the inscription: “The service is not supported in this region" Therefore, you should be prepared for the fact that you will have to take a tambourine out of the closet or spend a small amount on a ready-made and registered account, since there are plenty of offers on the domestic Internet that can save time and nerves.

However, even if you have an account, you should not expect a 100% guarantee of the service, especially in the Siberian and Far Eastern regions, where you will most likely receive messages about a connection error or a long delay due to the remoteness of these regions from the nearest servers.

True, not so long ago suspicious links with PS Now advertisements were noticed in the domestic PS Store English language, which may signal the launch of the service in the Russian Federation soon. However, it is difficult to say whether the service will receive support in Russia or not, since there have been no official comments from Sony, and the noticed advertisement could very well turn out to be a “duck” or a technical error.

Without leaving the context of regional restrictions, it is worth mentioning that another smaller problem follows from the first problem, associated with the absence of the Russian language in most games. True, remembering the difficulties of translating The Last of Us and Uncharted 2, it’s difficult to call this a full-fledged drawback. In addition, do not forget about the presence of the same history of the Uncharted series and short plot retellings on the Internet for other exclusives, viewing and familiarizing yourself with which will allow you to understand, even without knowing the language, what is happening on the screen at certain moments. Plus, games like Red Dead Redemption and Yakuza 5 never received official translations in their time, and in order to fully understand them, it is in any case advisable to know the language.

The second significant drawback of the service is the need to use controllers from the DualShock family. Although everything is not so scary here, since the service detects Xbox controllers well, and if you tinker with a couple of programs, you can connect any third-party devices and even a keyboard and mouse. The problem is acute only in some games, such as Heavy Rain, where you need to use a gyroscope with an accelerometer for control. Therefore, without having a branded controller of the third model, it is impossible to go through certain plot points, and in Until Dawn you will even need a DualShock four, since the game has situations where a Touchpad panel is required, which is simply not available in analogues. But basically, you can get by with regular controllers, since Red Dead: Redemption or games in the Uncharted series do not require special control functions to complete passage, like most of the projects presented in the service.

This concerns the obvious shortcomings, but what is, on the contrary, pleasantly pleasing is the quality of the service itself.

Ancient hardware is no barrier to exclusives

The client application on a PC works quite stably and consumes virtually no resources, making it possible to comfortably use the service on computers that were ten years old. However, this is not surprising, since most of the load falls on the server part, and the end user’s computer is only required to support streaming image output in 720P resolution. Of course, for more advanced PS4 games it is better to familiarize yourself with system requirements, but in any case, a particularly powerful system is not required to launch and use the service.

PlayStation Now system requirements

In addition, due to the use of cloud storage, there is no need to install games. Since all the data remains on the servers, there is simply no need to download games, and after installing the client application with initial authorization, which takes about five minutes, you can immediately proceed to the gameplay. Essentially, it all comes down to the “plug and play” principle, which even modern consoles have begun to forget about with endless service updates and day one patches, since with PS Now all sorts of downloadable and stand-alone additions, improvements and fixes are already natively built into the games and are available via mouse click. By the way, you can also use the service on PS4, which is useful if you want to play projects from the previous generation, without having to look for an old console or even get up from the couch.

Another pleasant detail is the absence of delays in control. Contrary to popular belief that cloud services are too dependent on hundredths of ping units, everything works quite well in PS Now, even when connected to American servers overseas. When playing, the characters are quite responsive in behavior, making jumps and movements as expected, which has been tested more than once in various platformers. The same applies to QTE moments that were tested during the passage of Heavy Rain, where in some places it was very difficult to catch the timings even on consoles. The difference with the console can only be felt in some shooters, when the sight wanders a little and during sharp turns goes a little further than desired. This happens mainly on American servers, but if you use European servers Accounts With a more stable connection, even such minor problems disappear.

When mentioning the strengths of the service, one cannot ignore the fact that PS Now supports multiplayer in those games where it is still officially available. That is, when you start Demon's Souls, you can forget about the phantom invasions, because the game servers, but playing the cooperative mode of Uncharted 3 or fighting for survival with other players in The Last of Us is quite possible. And of course, no one forbids connecting a second controller, in order to play on the same screen with the person sitting next door.

My eyes hurt and my hands play exclusive

In addition to the considered advantages and disadvantages, the service also has controversial issues related to graphics and sound.

Basically, the service's games are presented with the original resolution and, in general, are not much inferior to the console picture, but they do not have significant improvements in the graphical part. Although, it would seem that using server power in place of weak consoles, it is quite possible to improve the resolution of a number of old games that do not look so cheerful now. Especially considering that the service was originally conceived as a kind of backward compatibility for various devices and was supposed to play old games on new generations of consoles.
But even without improvements, games launched through the service look decent, and if you don’t look at pixels under a magnifying glass, you can enjoy the gameplay directly, because tearing your opponents to pieces in God of War 3 is still as enjoyable now as it was five years ago. In addition, the latter is presented in the Remastered format and already has slightly improved graphics, like a number of other projects available in the service.

Additionally, in the context of discussing graphics, it is worth mentioning that PS Now also has a certain advantage over consoles in terms of visuals, delivering a smooth frame rate without lag. Of course, when playing with a weak Internet, loss of frames is still possible due to connection breaks, but during the playthrough of all three parts of Uncharted with a wired Internet, this happened at most three or four times, which again is not critical.

When it comes to comparing the sound component, here PS Now is already significantly inferior to consoles, since the bitrate restrictions imposed on the streaming stream do not allow the use of 5.1 standard sound. As a result, you can forget about surround sound. In other cases, when playing with headphones or stereo speakers, the difference between the original and PS Now can only be caught on some musical compositions, and dialogues, explosions, sword strikes, weapon shots and everything else sounds appropriate and does not raise any particular complaints.

To summarize, it turns out that the audiovisual part, although not very pleasing, does not cause rejection. This generally applies to the entire PS Now, which clearly does not live up to the title of “absolute console replacement”, but still allows you to get a lot of fun. Despite some excesses, turn on Red Dead: Redemption and plunge into the atmosphere of the wild west, within ten minutes you forget that you are playing through a cloud service.

Something similar happened during the passage of the second Uncharted, when the author of this text sat down to play the game, without any special message, not expecting anything interesting from a project almost ten years ago, and as a result, he barely left the monitor after two days of an amazing adventure (diploma by the way was spent).

In other words, there are shortcomings with the audiovisual part, but they are not significant and after half an hour of using the service you simply don’t pay attention to them, immersing yourself directly in the gameplay.

The end of all exclusives?

To sum up all of the above, only one word comes to mind: “Controversial.” This is how the service can be described. On the one hand, the opportunity to play exclusive games on a PC, but on the other hand, the need to purchase a branded controller for some games. From the third direction, it is possible to launch games in a couple of clicks, but in contrast there are minor concessions in terms of graphics and sound.

PS Now definitely has a future, provided that Sony does not give up developing this direction and also begins to seriously expand its library of games and improve the audiovisual component. However, now the high, even by Western standards, cost of subscription and a number of minor problems discourage people from using the service. Of course, it’s definitely worth trying out PS Now as part of its free seven-day access, especially for players hungry for good PC exclusives, but it’s too early to buy a subscription if you need a controller.

However, if all of the above does not frighten you or simply exceeds the desire to touch console exclusives on a PC, then below under the spoiler there is a detailed video instruction for installing PS Now.

Installation instructions for PlayStation Now

In addition, it is worth recalling that the service works well in the European and Central parts of the Russian Federation, and in the Siberian and Far Eastern regions connection errors most often occur, and before performing the actions shown in the instructions, you should take this fact into account.
They are already experimenting in this field with all their might, and perhaps over time cloud technologies will become something familiar and accessible, which is what digital distribution has now become, and the concept of exclusive will go into oblivion, since it will be possible to run any games at least for , but probably stop “ranting” at similar topics and it is better to leave all this for discussion in the comments.

We present to your attention a new release of the TOP 10 rating from site users. This time the topic of the rating is “Best PC Exclusives”. A very interesting topic, because it covers a huge number of different cool games. The results are ready - start analyzing!

Sid Meier's Civilization 5 (111 votes)

20 years ago there was a release, which took seventh place in our ranking. Entire lives have been lived in it, and it is considered by many to be the main symbol of the nuclear post-apocalypse in the video game industry. Fallout 2 is a true classic that any fan should get to know good RPGs. Yes, outwardly it looks very outdated, but you quickly stop paying attention to it. The atmosphere of the radioactive wasteland draws you in and doesn’t let go until the very end. If you are unhappy that modern games too simple - here you go. But be warned: if you've only played the modern entries in the series, you might be in for a bit of a shock.

Gothic 2 (242 votes)

About fifteen years ago there was a popular debate about which was cooler: or . People were ready to discuss this topic for months in a variety of forums. Years have passed and “Gothic” seems to have disappeared. However, according to the voting results, the second part of this cult series was in sixth place in our rating. It is the second “Gothic” that is considered the peak, better than which there was nothing. This is truly hardcore, not obvious in many aspects role-playing game. It may be difficult to play today, but that doesn't mean the second Gothic is bad. This is a game from a completely different time. As we can see, she is remembered and loved today.

Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (244 votes)

In fifth place we have a real uncut diamond -. This game came out incredibly raw, but was so heartwarming that the audience fell in love with it despite all its shortcomings. The eternal atmosphere of the night, secret cults, a huge number of references to modern culture, not bad role system, amazing soundtrack - all this made the game widely known in narrow circles. Unfortunately, it came out at a very bad time and was forced to compete with such giants as Half-Life 2 and Halo 2. This fact and the general lack of development ensured that Bloodlines was a commercial failure, and the studio that created it closed. However, in the future the game sold quite well in Steam service, and fans released a whole bunch of patches. So you can still play it today.

Our rating continues with one more legendary strategy from the past - which became the first game in the series made in full 3D. Today this will not surprise anyone, but in 2002 it looked very innovative. Four and a half million people pre-ordered it, and another million copies were sold in the first month after release. But these are Western statistics - in our country, of course, most users got acquainted with Warcraft 3 absolutely free. This game is an excellent balanced strategy that performs well in both multiplayer and single-player campaigns, which is true for all releases from Blizzard. In addition, it was Warcraft 3 that became the basis on which Dota grew, which, in turn, is very fond of your mothers. By the way, don’t forget to congratulate them on the eighth of March.

Divinity: Original Sin 2 (316 votes)

In third place was , the best game of last year according to users of our site. We think that one day it will be released on consoles, but for now it holds the title of a real PC exclusive, giving a huge bonus to this platform. Original Sin 2 is a large-scale and detailed role-playing game that is unlikely to leave you indifferent. In addition, it has advanced co-op, which has already become the main feature of the entire series. The title of “Game of the Year,” as we see, did not help it rise higher. In first and second place we have a true classic of PC gaming!

The Witcher (538 votes)

When we launched this rating, for some reason some were glad that The Witcher would not be in it. It seems that we have begun to forget that the first part of the series is a true PC exclusive. The first one was released in 2007 and was what a popular hit for this platform should be: complex, somewhat incomprehensible and buggy. But, as we all know very well, none of the problems prevented The Witcher from becoming successful game. Well, unless someone couldn’t play it at the start due to not the best optimization. However, today the first Witcher is certainly available to everyone. We agree with our users: this game is truly a worthy PC exclusive. Yes, we would put her in a different position, but, in the end, this is not our vote!

S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl (798 votes)

Without thinking twice, we decided to identify the top where the best cooperative exclusives for PC. We had practically nothing to choose from. But the list of games that you will see below is worthy of great attention. Let's begin.

10th place:

- one of the best role-playing games in general. The game takes place in medieval times, during times of war and violence. This is, of course, already common, but at the time the game came out it was unusual. This attracted players. Now the game remains in last place, it has become less in demand.

The game was listed in the top only because of the co-op mod called "". The mod changed the game in better side: NPC improvement, skill distribution and, of course, adding cooperative in Game.

9th place:

- a real strategy that requires the player to have developed thinking and continuous motivation to play. The game takes place during the American and Japanese revolutions.
You can already understand that the developers tried to involve the story as closely as possible.
And this can be attributed to the many advantages that decorate this game so much. The interface and gameplay of the game, in general, is accessible to every player. Playing becomes enjoyable when you know what to do and when to do it. But the game is quite demanding on hardware, which sometimes upsets owners of weak PCs. Also, the game, as I said, requires motivation to play and, as you already understood, quick reactions and the ability to quickly think through complex decisions.

8th place:

- a fast-paced, breathtaking role-playing game, filled to the brim with bloody battles and trophies. The game will allow you to plunge into a magical and whimsical world, shrouded in ominous secrets, where danger lurks around every corner, and chests are about to burst from overflowing treasures.
The developers tried very hard to ensure that the game did not lose the charm of the first part, and at the same time added a lot of new things, including the ability co-op playthrough storyline and a new, intuitive interface that will take very little time to master.

7th place:

- pumping cooperative a game Horror-genre. The most important thing in the game is the atmosphere. And not every horror can compare to this scary game. Just look at the scary sounds in the forest and the futile attempts to find a chalk circle to stand there and escape from the monsters!
There aren't many downsides to the game. Basically, these are bugs, problems with servers and poor graphics, although this may not be considered.
Single player game And cooperative game, of course, differs in almost every way. If in a single playthrough we tried to find and collect all the notes as quickly as possible and still died, then in the co-op we tried to tease a friend and prolong those moments when it was really fun.

6th place:

- a military simulator operating in real time. There are rumors that the game will be used in American military schools, but these are just rumors, aren't they?
The game itself differs from other military simulators in its accuracy, realism and hardcore. I still can't forget those exciting, epic moments...
But every game has its pros and cons. Sometimes it’s difficult and disgusting to play due to shortcomings and bugs. There are a huge number of them in the game. These, in my opinion, are the only 2 disadvantages of the game.

5th place:

- the most atmospheric cooperative the best shooter I've ever seen. An action game in which we play the role of survivors and kill clouds of zombie mutants.
Many types of weapons, mutants and bosses make the game one of the best. Of course, the graphics in the game are not as beautiful as in current games, but this is nothing compared to the dismemberment that the game has in abundance.
As I said, the graphics in the game are a bit old - this is perhaps one minus of this game. IN co-op playthrough The game gives players maximum opportunity to interact with each other. If you play alone, you won’t survive beyond the fifth wave...

4th place:

The game's combat takes place in the distant future, where the once great race Tennov was almost completely defeated and destroyed by the race Grainirov. But in the very last moments of the confrontation, when the last resistance was broken and crumbled to dust, the race Tennov finds the ancient technology of WarFrames - exoskeletons that can only be used by Tenns and can change the outcome of the battle.
Gameplay is presented in the form of single or cooperative missions, where the player is part of a Tenn squad of up to four fighters. The game has a donation, but you can do without it. There are rumors about the addition of PVP, but these are just rumors, the developers are keeping silent for now. Nice graphics and third person view. The disadvantages include very stupid AI and poor voice acting.

3rd place:

- ordinary economic strategy, which literally after its release created a lot of noise among gamers. In this game we play as the mayor, a god who is entrusted with the task of turning an ordinary small town into a large metropolis. Of course, all this is done with partners: They, in turn, help us with resources. It has already become clear that the gameplay is completely designed for team game .
The graphics are very attractive. Personally, I enjoyed playing and admiring the well-drawn textures of the buildings. In addition to graphics, the game boasts of its rich sounds. Every time it was amazing to listen to how a meteorite falls, destroying all your work.
And yes, the physical environment is also very well designed. Collapse of dams, meteorite falls, hurricanes and even alien raids make the game more demanding. cooperative passing.

2nd place:

, as the slogan says, " Well very epic game ", will allow the player to go into a world where the magic of the elements will collide with Scandinavian monsters. Different types and the subspecies of orcs, gnomes, trolls and magicians can bring any wizard to the grave, but not the heroes of this game! Having drunk themselves to the point of losing control of magic spells, four battle mages from the most mysterious order are ready to fight the evil one. Dark Sorcerer and his servants in co-op for 4 people. Combining various elements into powerful magic, and sometimes just the old fashioned way with a sword (staff, machine gun, hammer, pitchfork, bolt gun...) wizards will bring good and destruction to everything that moves. And they will move what does not move, bringing even more good and destruction. Players are waiting combat system, divided into two types: combine the elements or whatever they are called, Magic, to create powerful spells and wholesale destruction of enemies, or simply “wave a sword purely for fun,” which also, oddly enough, allows you to cut out enemies in droves. And there is simply a great variety of enemies in the game: from small snakes to giant fire-breathing dragons.

1st place:

The game is survival simulator in a zombie apocalypse, where the main task is "survive". And survive as long as possible. Don't forget that this is what the developers were trying to do" ultra realistic". And "ultra bugged". Your character will want to drink, eat, and live in real time (a day in the game is equal to a real day), not being able to see at night without special devices, losing blood from wounds, freezing, getting sick, breaking legs on doors, falling from a height of half a meter and losing consciousness and, of course, constantly dying: a bandit’s bullet, a zombie, a car accident, hypothermia, an ambush, hit the door with the little finger- all this can end sadly. The average lifespan of a newbie is no more than half an hour. Only seasoned and experienced players are able to survive for several days. Although, for cheaters, bugs or friends, it doesn’t matter whether you’re a newbie or a seasoned survivor. Is not fun shooter, where you can slash hordes of zombies in bursts - this game has no similarities with similar games in which the task is to “get from point to point”, here you have to survive, there is always a shortage of ammunition and food here...

The top has been compiled, but you can express your personal opinion about any game from the above list in
