If not, the game is unlikely to launch.

What to do if a black screen appears in Outlast 2

Restart your computer

Close all programs and turn off your computer, this may help.

Open the game in administrator mode

Try logging into the game as an administrator, to do this, right-click on the Outlast 2 shortcut and select the line “Run as administrator.

Problem #1: Kaspersky alarm - false virus files

Some users reported that Kaspersky antivirus found virus files in the game. If you encounter this problem, then you should know that it is a false alarm. As a precaution, you should disable Kaspersky Anti-Virus before installation or simply add the game files to the program exception. At the moment, this is the only right decision.

Problem #2: Outlast 2 slows down your entire computer

There have been several reports of the game freezing in options or during playthrough, leaving no choice but to restart the PC. If this is the case, then try to disable as much as possible third party applications(programs) running in the background. Temporarily disabling antivirus software will also help solve the problem.

Problem #3: FPS in the game does not rise above 24

First of all, make sure your graphics card drivers have been updated to latest version. If they are not the problem, then try changing the monitor refresh rate. If you are using 120Hz, then try running the game at 60Hz and see if the problem resolves.

Problem #4: Crashes when launching Outlast 2

First, you should try all the steps described above, including disabling your antivirus before installing the game. If this does not solve the problem, then check the game files through Steam.

Problem #5: Outlast 2 won't launch - file loss error

If you receive the following error, it is most likely due to the fact that your antivirus deleted some game files when you installed it or tried to launch it. Sometimes antivirus programs point to normal executable files, claiming that they are malicious, and then block them even without your consent. In this case, you should temporarily disable your antivirus or add files to an exception. Sometimes you will even have to completely uninstall and reinstall the game, disabling the antivirus.
