Zodiac constellations- these are the constellations through which the sun passed at the time when the concept of the zodiac was formed. There are twelve of them.
Sometimes they say - and this is almost correct - that the zodiacal constellations are those through which ecliptic(the annual path of the sun across the sky). The ecliptic spans the sky like the equator spans the Earth, so zodiac constellations- this is simply the traditional historical name for a group of twelve constellations, a strip covering the entire sky.
Zodiac constellations are named exactly the same as Zodiac signs, there is a deep genetic connection between them, but constellations and signs are completely different objects! They are different in essence, but most importantly, they differ in their position in the sky. Because of this confusion (in the minds of both astronomers and astrologers), misunderstandings and misunderstandings constantly arise.

I mentioned that the ecliptic passes through the zodiacal constellations, but this is not entirely true. They want to find among the constellations those that they once read or heard about. Twelve of the celestial figures are constellations of zodiac symbols. Each of them is associated with legends that tell about its discovery and explain its name. What are these zodiac signs?
The zodiac is a certain belt of the sky along which some planets, the Moon and the Sun move, passing 12 constellations on their way. Since they are located in the zodiac field, they got their name - the constellations of the zodiac. Each of them in old astrology was designated or accompanied by a certain symbol, which is called the zodiac symbol. Here is a simple story of how the constellations of zodiac symbols appeared.
How many are there in total?
The sun travels around a large circle of the celestial sphere in a year. This circle (called the zodiac, 360 degrees in total) is divided into 12 sectors of 30 degrees each, named after the constellations that the Sun passes on its way.
Each month corresponds to the zodiac symbol along which the Sun makes its movement in that month. Once upon a time, the constellations of zodiac symbols served people as a calendar, since the Sun traveled in each of them for about a month. Origin of names
People have come up with their own name for each constellation of zodiac symbols. According to one version, the origin of the names of the zodiac symbols corresponds to the labors of Hercules. Other versions are based on ancient Greek myths about the gods of Olympus. Each name and sign has its own legend. Twins
In the constellation Gemini you can see about 70 stars, two of which - Castor and Pollux - are the brightest. The exorbitant brotherly love of Castor and Pollux, which ancient Greek myths tell about, prompted people to find two shining celestial stars and call them Gemini. The symbol corresponds to May and June (22.05 - 21.06).
Constellation Cancer
The summer months - June and July (22.06 - 23.07) - correspond to the zodiac symbol Cancer. The constellation Cancer is very huge and at the same time the weakest, it is lost against the background of its bright neighbors and brothers Leo and Gemini. In good weather at night you can see about 60 stars in the constellation without telescopic instruments. The brightest is Altarf or Beta Cancri.
Legend associates the appearance of this constellation in the sky with the name of Hercules’ irreconcilable rival Hera; it was she who lifted there the sea monster that bit Hercules during the battle with Hydra. Constellation Leo

The second in the list of “constellations of zodiac signs” is Taurus. The Latin name of the constellation is Taurus. This is a striking and beautiful cluster of stars, located between Aries and Gemini, in the northwest of Orion. In the sky, Taurus covers an area of about 797.2 square degrees and contains 216 visible stars. According to myths, in the sky we see the name Taurus, a white bull on which Europe swam across the sea, eventually ending up with Zeus on the island of Crete.
The constellations of the zodiac signs include at least one bright star, in the constellation Taurus it is the Eye of the Ox or Aldebaran in Arabic, which means “following the trail”. This name has its own explanation; the constellation Taurus moves behind the Pleiades, a beautiful cluster of stars consisting of almost 300 stars located at a distance of 420 light years from Earth. In addition, numerous stars of the Hyades cluster are scattered around the main star of Taurus; according to myths, the Hyades are the sisters of the Pleiades. There are about 200 stars in the Hyades, some of which are especially bright because they are located, by astronomical standards, not far from the earth at a distance of 132 light years. By the way, among all the constellations of zodiac signs, Taurus has one of the richest mythologies; more than one or even two legends are associated with this constellation.
No less remarkable element of Taurus than its mythology is the remnant of the explosion of supernova M1, located within its boundaries, located in the Milky Way galaxy, and had a magnitude of 8.4 magnitudes.
The name of the third constellation of zodiac signs is Gemini, which translated into Latin is Gemini. This is a constellation whose outline really resembles the figures of two people.
