Plugin “City of Night. Revival of the Dark Brotherhood"
Represents the storyline of the continuation of the Dark Brotherhood quest line.

The peculiarity of the plugin is that it was made based on the plot of a forum role-playing game. Thanks to this, most NPCs already had their own history, their own character, as well as their own role in this world.
Another feature of the plugin is that NPCs - residents of the City - have the appearance of player characters, those who visited the forum dedicated to this role-playing game, and were not indifferent to the fate of the plugin.

Our primary task was not to create a mod stuffed with new items and monsters, but a plugin in which the continuation of the story of the Main Character as an assassin of the Dark Brotherhood would be implemented in the most interesting and logical way. The plots of the quests are based on scenes from a role-playing game, and the authors tried to convey as much as possible the atmosphere of the City of Night, the spirit of the Dark Brotherhood and the life of assassins and other residents of the City.

In order for the City of Night quest to begin, you must completely complete the Dark Brotherhood quest line and, after you become a Listener of the Night Mother, go to bed (for several hours). You will have a dream in which you will receive all the necessary instructions.

The plugin includes the location of the City of Night, Vaults in the cities, as well as several quests in which the authors tried to implement some of the scenes described in the role-playing game.

Compatibility:
There is no information about the mod's incompatibility with any others. There may be logical inconsistencies with mods such as “Companion Lucien Lachance”, “ ”, etc. Therefore, it is recommended that before starting the game “Rebirth of the Dark Brotherhood” you disable all plugins that use NPCs killed during the Dark Brotherhood quest line.

Installation:
Before installing this version, disable and uninstall the old one!

Make sure you have the latest version of the game: Gold Edition or regular with the Shivering Isles.
Place the Data folder in the Oblivion folder without deleting anything from there. Please note that the resources are packaged in a bsa archive, use if for some reason your game produces errors with models and textures.
The player must take into account the following: the mod is not designed for players who do not like fair play, preferring to play in tgm mode. "Rise of the Dark Brotherhood" was created with experienced players well familiar with the world of TES IV: Oblivion in mind.

Possible problems:
There shouldn’t be any special problems when running the plugin, but to avoid possible bugs, it is recommended to consider the following:

  • When passing, leave saves at different stages, so that if an error occurs, you do not have to start completing the quests again.
  • Some quests require the main character to sleep to update. Sleep for at least 5-6 hours for the transition to the next stage to take place.

This unofficial addition was created by a talented modmaker over the course of six months and significantly expands the storyline associated with the Dark Brotherhood guild. The player receives more than 4 hours of exciting adventures, which in terms of the quality of the plot and gameplay are no different from the original version of the game.

Description of the modification

The first part of the mod “Rebirth of the Dark Brotherhood in Skyrim” begins with the fact that 2 new female and male companions appear near the Dantar shelter immediately after the completion of the official story campaign for the Dark Brotherhood. In the shelter itself, several unique dialogues will appear, and there will also be an opportunity to overhear conversations about the most interesting orders.

The companions will be Averna and Stabby. The first intends to carry out a dark ritual and is looking for an assistant, and the second is going to carry out the assassination order he has taken upon himself in Bruma. Both characters will always be hiding something, but until their brotherhood is attacked by a mysterious enemy.

Satellite characteristics:

Stabby is a master of sneak attacks, so it is recommended to move stealthily with him. When Dovahkiin's or Stabba's health level is critical, he can activate an area-of-effect ability.
Averna– practically invisible, becomes part of the shadow when moving covertly and therefore avoids combat. As soon as the player stands upright, Averna appears out of nowhere and rips apart all enemies.

The Dark Brotherhood is a fun family. Anyone who is not a vampire or a werewolf is a complete nutcase.

The Dark Brotherhood is a Tamrielic assassin's guild. It exists in absolute secrecy, and joining it is not easy. The headquarters of the Skyrim division of the Brotherhood is an enchanted cave off the road in the south of the province, near the town of Falkreath.

The divine patron of the Brotherhood is the ominous and powerful Mother of the Night, who is probably already known to those who once conquered the vastness of the Imperial Province. Our colleagues in the Brotherhood, the inhabitants of the shelter, are also special guys. Here you will find a crazy jester, a vampire in the guise of a little girl (a clear hello to Interview with the Vampire), and even a friendly frosty spider.

In addition, those who join the Brotherhood and complete its quests will receive some benefit from this.

  • A shelter in which you can sleep, study, forge armor - in general, have fun.
  • The Word of Power on the wall of the shelter is a good, albeit one-time, prize.
  • A spell to summon a ghostly killer to help in battle.
  • Brothers treat vampires with understanding - even if they are in the fourth stage of the disease.
  • And, perhaps, the best argument in favor of joining the Brotherhood is the unique black horse Tenegriv with a huge supply of health, which quickly regenerates.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION: Before starting the story, go to Lorey Farm, north of Whiterun and the White Watchtower, and complete the quest “Belated Funeral” - it will be given by a jester named Cicero. Technically, this is a side quest (we'll tell you more about it in the side quests section), but it will allow you to get to know your future Brotherhood colleague and his... deceased "mother" in advance.

Innocence Lost

The guy performed the Black Ritual according to all the rules. There is nothing to do, the order must be fulfilled.

To enroll in the Dark Brotherhood of the Imperial Province, it was necessary to kill any ordinary person. In Skyrim, everything is a little more complicated - you can kill even the entire city, the Brotherhood won’t even blink. However, it is there - and you will see this if Radiant Story confronts you with assassins who have a contract with the hero’s name on them (of course, to read this contract, you will first have to defeat them)

You will find a way to get into this mysterious organization if you hang out in taverns, talk to children from the orphanage in Riften, or immediately look into Windhelm. In Windhelm, the easiest way to overhear a conversation is in an alley (as you enter the city, to the right). The gist is this: the orphaned boy Aventus Aretino escaped from the orphanage and is now conducting a ritual to summon the Dark Brotherhood.

Aretino lives in the same alley - if you pick the lock, you will find him on the second floor. He is surrounded by strange objects and utters strange words. The boy performs - or thinks that he performs - the Black Sacrament. Is he really calling for assassins? We'll find out soon! In any case, when Aretino sees us, he will decide that we are the “child of Mother Night.”

The boy will give you a task: to kill Grelod the Good, the not at all kind matron of the Riften orphanage. The easiest time to do this is when she is sleeping. Try not to be seen by anyone. In any case, the death of Grelod will awaken the entire orphanage, and you will witness a very funny scene.

Aretino will give out the family plate as a reward and say that he is about to return to the orphanage (however, in reality he will not do this and will hang around his home until the end of time).

Which of the three prisoners do our examiners want to see dead?

Soon after the “contract,” the hero will be overtaken by a courier and will issue an anonymous message with a palm print and an inscription, the essence of which can be conveyed as “we know what you did last summer.” And having fallen asleep, the hero will wake up in an abandoned barn, in the company of Astrid and three tied up prisoners with bags on their heads.

Astrid will scold the hero for lynching Grelod and offer an exam to join the Brotherhood. The task is to question three prisoners, guess who the contract is for, and kill him. I will not reveal the secret in the text, since it is still impossible to “fail” the introduction with the wrong choice. Just choose and strike.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION: you can reject the Dark Brotherhood by attacking Astrid and freeing the prisoners. In this case, all you have to do is find a guard, at his suggestion, go to Commander Maron and, after talking with him, arrange a massacre in the shelter. This closes the topic of the Dark Brotherhood for our hero.

Our congratulations! You now have an official invitation to the shelter. Find the entrance along the road leading west from Falkreath, say the passphrase and enter. Astrid will greet us and offer to try on the Shadow costume. This is a purely voluntary matter. Our new employer will be the Redguard Nazir.

Asylum

One of the shortest tasks in the game. Talk to Nazir, take three contracts. Our victims: the beggar Narfi, the former owner of the sawmill Ennodius Papias and Beitild, the owner of the mine.

  • Narfi lives in a dilapidated house across the river from Ivarstead.

The bandits are strong and well armed - but they have no methods against the female cunning of our customer.

Meanwhile, the merry fellow and madman Cicero appeared in the shelter. If you completed the quest "Belated Funeral", he will recognize you. If you talk to him, he will complain that the Dark Brotherhood does not have a Listener - a medium capable of communicating with the Mother of the Night, which he brought from Bravil in a box...

You will meet Muiri at the Witch's Tincture pharmacy, in a tavern or on the streets of the city. Having told her sad story, she will give out a contract for the robber Alain Duphon, who lives in the Dwemer ruins of Raldbthar, and will add that it would be nice to kill Nilsin the Shattered Shield from Windhelm at the same time.

You can get to Raldbthar from the north, where there are stairs leading up the mountain. He is guarded by his fellow bandits, so the task is almost a standard clearing of the dungeon, and not even all of it, but only a small part of it. You will find Alain Dufont by the fire in the company of three bandits. In his hands is a good enchanted hammer “Curse of the Aegis”. In battle, Alain is cowardly - he will most likely try to escape, leaving his friends to deal with the killer. At the beginning of the battle, you can try using a fire spell to set fire to the oil spilled by the fire.

As for Nilsin the Shattered Shield, there is a moral dilemma here. Her sister was killed by a maniac, Nilsin herself and her parents are in mourning - and if you kill the girl, her mother will commit suicide. The reward for the additional task is a ring that adds strength to potions.

Return to Astrid. It seems that with the arrival of Cicero, fun days began at the shelter!

Whispers in the dark

“Who sat in my Mommy’s sarcophagus and crushed her?”

Astrid is worried - the already mad Cicero began talking to someone in his room. Is he up to no good? To eavesdrop on the conversation, the hero will have to hide somewhere. For example, in the coffin of his “mother”, next to the mummy.

Open the lock of the sarcophagus and enjoy the scene.

After this, you will have a conversation with Cicero and Astrid - tell them what happened. We are again sent to Nazir. He will issue two contracts - one for the orc bard Lurbuk, and the other for a vampire named Hern.

  • Hern and his girlfriend live at the Half Moon Sawmill, not far north of the Dark Brotherhood hideout. Most likely, you will find the “client” in the house, behind a weak lock.
  • Orc bard Lurbuk is the worst bard in Skyrim. He is so bad that the Guild had to organize a lottery for the contract, because there was no end to those who wanted him dead. He performs at Morthal's Heathers tavern. The easiest way to get to him is when he leaves the main hall.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION: To progress further in the story, it is enough to complete one of two contracts.

With the death of silence

Who else should we turn to to eliminate the emperor, if not the Dark Brotherhood? This is a familiar matter!

Upon returning to the shelter, Astrid will meet us and offer to listen to the Mother of the Night and go to the Volundrud burial ground to talk with a certain Amon Motierre.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION: do not forget, upon entering Volundrud, to deal with the skeleton sitting on the throne (pretending to be bad!) and pick up the diary to take on the side quest “The Silence of Tongues”.

You won’t have to look for Amon Motierre for long - turn left and, after walking over the bodies of the twice-deceased draugr, open the door. It turns out that Amon attracted the attention of the Night Mother with the help of the Black Sacrament. He will offer a very interesting task: kill the emperor himself! Having received a letter and a valuable amulet from an assistant named Rex, return to the shelter.

After talking with Astrid, all you have to do is run to Riften, look into the Thieves Guild and find out from buyer Delvin Mallory what kind of amulet Amon Motierre gave us. It turns out that the amulet is a sign of belonging to the imperial Council of Elders. Take the receipt from Delvin and return to the shelter. It seems that someone from the Council is involved in the conspiracy against the Emperor.

Astrid, having received a receipt, will send the hero to the wedding. To summon His Majesty Titus Mede II to Skyrim, you need to create unrest. The best way to do this is to kill his cousin Vittoria Vici, head of the Solitude branch of the Eastern Imperial Company and, by coincidence, fiancee. An additional task is to kill her while she is giving a speech to the guests.

Until the death separates us

This is clearly not Cupid's arrow.

For a character who knows how to hide and wields a bow, the task will be easy. You just need to make your way along the fortress walls to the wedding place, stand without any glare and, when the bride goes out onto the balcony to make a speech, shoot a well-aimed arrow.

You can use destructive spells, the illusion of rage (on your husband), melee weapons, and werewolf claws! You can even push a statue from the wall onto the bride's head. But the developers have provided an easy “shooting” way to kill the bride, even for heroes who are not familiar with a bow. To the left of the main entrance to the Temple of the Gods there is a small door leading to Solitude - to a small balcony opposite where the princess will perform. There you will find a powerful enchanted bow "Firiniel's Death", six elven arrows and a potion of accuracy.

It is advisable not to stay on the balcony, but to climb higher - it’s easier to leave from there. Visara's lizard will cover you, but it is enough to run along the bastions, keeping to the right wall, to get to the city gate.

ADVICE: it makes sense to search the bride's body for valuable keys and bridal clothes with a fleece. But it is quickly removed from the game, and jumping to it immediately after killing it means incurring the wrath of the guards. There is a cunning, bordering on cheating way to get around the problem - at the same moment when the arrow flies into the bride, you need to quickly move to the shelter, turn in the quest and just as instantly return to Solitude.

Astrid will give you a reward and a “daily” talent for summoning a ghostly assassin (those who have played Oblivion should recognize it), and then send her to Gabriella for new instructions.

THIS IS INTERESTING: if you take this ghost with you on missions, it will from time to time comment on what is happening in an afterlife voice. The summoning time is not limited - the spirit can follow us until enemies kill it, and mumble, talking about the old days.

Weak spot

While the locals stare at the dragon, Guy and Commander Maron calmly say goodbye.

The task from Gabriella sounds difficult: in order to neutralize the emperor’s bodyguards, we must demoralize the chief of security by killing his son Guy during an inspection tour of the cities. In addition, fake papers must be placed on Guy’s body, indicating that he was preparing an assassination attempt on the emperor. It is advisable to do this not on the road, but during one of his stops in cities - so that the body is quickly found. For this, an additional reward is awarded - the sign of the seer, with the help of which the hero will receive a side Radiant quest for improved Shadow armor.

The trip schedule can be stolen from the Penitus Oculatus garrison house, but this is also not necessary - you can simply wait for the victim in one of the taverns in Skyrim. Or, looking at the farewell scene in the village of Dragon Bridge, go with Guy to the first settlement, kill him and plant a “compromising letter” (R key by default).

Gabriella will meet you outside the shelter. Hand in the task and go to Astrid again.

Cure for Madness

The killers! Even after death, they strive to do what they love.

Everything was mixed up in the house of the Dark Brotherhood. Cicero attacked its inhabitants, mortally wounded the lizard Visara and fled, pursued by Astrid's husband, the werewolf Arnbjorn. To find out where the crazy jester could have escaped, we will be sent to his room. From the diaries it will become clear both the destination - the second shelter of the Brotherhood in Dawnstar, and the password to enter.

To help us get to the place faster, Astrid will lend her horse - the legendary Shadowmane. Get on it, but of course it’s better to get to Dawnstar by “fast travel”.

First we need to find Arnbjorn. He was injured in a fight with Cicero, but he can speak: the werewolf will tell you that he wounded Cicero, and will offer, upon entering the Vault, to follow the bloody trail. When the door asks “What is the greatest illusion of life?”, do not select the items “Happy marriage” or “Hmm... well, a trick where a woman is cut in half,” but say in an ominous voice “Innocence, my brother.”

Inside you will find crazy comments from Cicero, traps (fire oil behind a tripwire, spikes in the walls) and ghostly guards of the sanctuary. Note the jester's clothes on the table and the many educational books.

ADVICE: call the ghostly killer and listen to his comments about what is happening.

A trail of blood will lead you through a round opening into an ice cave (watch out for bear traps!). Cicero will talk about how someone “forced him to expand,” and soon we will see who it is - a hefty troll named Udurfrukt (and this is greetings from icy Solstheim).

Behind the wooden door, open the passage to the tomb by pulling the chain. Rows of coffins and a new batch of ghostly guards await us there. We open another passage with a chain, and here it is - Cicero. He seems to be out of shape, unable to fight and will offer to let him live by deceiving Astrid. What should I do? The choice is not obvious. On the one hand, he really messed things up, but on the other... The Mother of the Night is the Mother of the Night, and Cicero is her guardian.

It makes sense to leave him alive simply because he could later become our companion. But if you still decide to kill the poor jester, keep in mind that he is not dead, but is only pretending and will quickly jump to his feet if you poke him with a sword or try to rob him. But it will be possible to remove an improved set of jester's clothing from the body.

Return to Astrid and lie to her (or tell the truth if the jester was killed by your hand). It's time to advance the "imperial" plot - your instructor this time will be Festus Krex, a grumpy old man.

Killer Recipe

The orc cook is so light that you can literally lift his corpse by the scruff of the neck.

One person knows who exactly is behind the name Gourmet - Anton Viran from the Understone Fortress of Markarth. He needs to be interrogated and then killed. It's best at night when all the kitchen staff are asleep. Hearing about the Dark Brotherhood, Anton instantly lays it all out: Gourmet is an orc named Balagog gro-Nolob from the Night Gate tavern, west of Windhelm.

The orc lives in the cellar, but comes ashore during the day. If it is in the fresh air, the corpse can be drowned in water, and if in the cellar, a large empty barrel will serve as storage. Don't forget to take the pass from the body, and the training book from the basement.

Report to Festus Krex. The time has come to kill the emperor! Astrid will be the instructor again.

ADVICE: Before you go on your next mission, make sure you haven't forgotten to do anything in the hideout. Then it will become inaccessible.

Death of the Empire

“Now put... a coin in the soup!”

The task sounds easy: use an orc pass to enter the palace. Then poison the food with the root of the fryer and, when the emperor gives his soul to God, escape through the upper door and the unguarded bridge.

In Solitude, climb the stone steps and overhear the conversation of the concerned legionnaires. They talk about an uncovered conspiracy and about commander Maron - the same one whose son we killed a couple of quests above. Maron himself stands at a distance. He will accept our pass and send us to the kitchen, to the cook Gianna.

Where has this been seen - against a Redguard, and throwing fire spells?

Fast travel to the Dark Brotherhood hideout will be disabled, so walk to it from Falkreath. The quest will begin when you are attacked by Imperial agents. There are barrels of oil around the cave, and flames are blazing inside. After overhearing a conversation between two Imperials, you learn that one of the Brotherhood survived and was driven deep into the caves.

You won't be able to save Arnbjorn. But, having made your way through the fire and imperial agents, you will find Nazir. By killing the agent fighting him, you will prove your innocence in the conspiracy against the Brotherhood. But the exit from the cave was cut off. Nazir is fine - he is a Redguard, low-vulnerable to fire. What should we do? Follow him, and you will find a way out - in the sarcophagus of the Night Mother.

After the scene, go in search of Astrid. Having fulfilled her small request, return to the Night Mother and listen to the instructions. From now on we are the head of the Dark Brotherhood.

Tell Nazir the words of the Night Mother and go to the Prancing Mare tavern in Whiterun. A familiar employer is waiting for us there - Amon Motierre. He will tell you that the real emperor is on board the ship Kataria, at the mouth of the Gulf of Solitude, and under powerful guard. In addition, it makes sense to kill Commander Maron - he is in the port.

If you're going to kill Maron, start with him - he walks along the bridges in the port and is an easy target.

"Kataria" dropped anchor behind the Solitude Rock, and you can get aboard the ship along the anchor chain. Security is light (after all, the Brotherhood is defeated, and there is nothing to fear), and it is possible to sneak through sailors and agents of the Empire. Soon you will come across a door locked with a powerful lock. The key to this door and to the door to the emperor's chambers can be decorated or removed from the body of Captain Avidius (he lives in the cabin next to the guardhouse).

Oddly enough, the emperor was waiting for us. Before his death, he will also ask to kill the conspirator, Amon Motierre. If you want, do this after talking to him in the Prancing Mare and go to Volundrud, where a hefty reward awaits us in an old urn (and, most likely, another pretend skeleton at the entrance).

All that remains is to go to the Dawnstar shelter and, after talking with Nazim, take care of random contracts from the Mother of the Night and arranging the new home of the Brotherhood.

The quests of the dark brotherhood of Skyrim sound mysterious and even frightening, but what they are is not clear. So, the Dark Brotherhood is an order of assassins who worship the God of the Void and the Mother of the Night. They created the Five Commandments, failure to comply with which was punishable by death. However, at the time of the events of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the Dark Brotherhood was noticeably shrinking: the previous laws were not respected, and the life credo of its members was ordinary and vile murder for money. The Brotherhood does not play a key role in the plot, but there are several interesting tasks associated with it.


Family honor

The quest begins after the main character attacks one of the dark assassins. The essence of the task is to restore his good name, and in a rather peculiar way: instead of valiantly fighting for the Brotherhood, the hero is asked to pay a fine to Nazir, having first talked with him. You will have to fork out 300-500 coins.
Unfortunately, there are quite a few bugs associated with this task. For example, the quest may end if all improvements for the Dawnstar Shelter have been completed. Also, the beginning of a quest sometimes causes cannibalism - provided that the character's finger is wearing Namira's ring.

It is not necessary to attack a living assassin. The attack on Lucien Lachance will also count, despite the fact that he has long since become a ghost.

Belated funeral

To accept this task, you need to find Cicero on the road from Whiterun. He will talk about how he was transporting his mother’s ashes to a new crypt, but the cart crashed, and the owner of the nearest farm refused to help. The player's task is to convince the farmer to help. Reward: 400-600 gold.

Innocence Lost

This task will help you subsequently join the Dark Brotherhood. It is necessary to find out rumors from the townspeople about a certain Aventus Aretino. This is an orphan boy who ran away from the orphanage because of his evil guardian. The moment the protagonist opens the door, the boy will perform the “Dark Sacrament” ritual and mistake the person who enters for a member of the Dark Brotherhood. Then everything is simple: you need to kill the evil trustee and receive as a reward from the boy... a cheap plate. What can you do, the orphan has nothing more to pay with.

With such friends...

A few days after the quest “Innocence Lost” a new one will automatically begin. First, the hero will receive a letter from the Dark Brotherhood. The news is very unpleasant, especially since the mercenary killers are very laconic and wrote only two words: “We know.” But the surprises don't end there.

The next morning, the character will wake up in an abandoned house somewhere in the northern part of Skyrim. Astrid, the head of the Brotherhood, will appear there and declare that the player should not have helped the boy, since this is the work of assassins, so the debt will have to be repaid. Then the protagonist will be forced to finish off an unleashed Khajiit, a nervous woman or a seasoned mercenary (all three are tied up and are in the same house).

After the bloodshed, the hero will have to agree to join the Dark Brotherhood. Astrid will then direct him to the hideout, telling him in detail how to get there. Having followed her instructions, the character will find himself in the lair, where he will receive another task from the Dark One
Brotherhoods.

Never-ending assignments

Quests of the dark brotherhood of Skyrim are a loose concept. There are really a lot of them, and almost all of them consist of the following: talk to one of the members of the Brotherhood - get a list of those who need to be sent to another world - draw blood - collect the reward. However, sometimes you have to kill very interesting personalities, and there will always be a whirlpool of events around. If you want a long and exciting line of quests, then the Skyrim Dark Brotherhood Quests are definitely worth completing.
