The Witcher 3 save file. Completed the storyline. DLC "Hearts of Stone" is not touched

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the final part of the trilogy about the Witcher Geralt of Rivia. Consequently, the game has the ability to transfer saves and simulate the world, as in the second part.

Game world simulation

There are two key stages in The Witcher 3 that determine the state of the world.

The first of these occurs before the game itself begins. By selecting “New Game” “New Beginning” in the main menu and deciding on the difficulty level and training, you will be offered three options for simulating the world:

  • Enable world simulation;
  • Disable world simulation;
  • Create a world by transferring saves from previous parts of the game.

By choosing the first option, later in the game you will have the opportunity to determine the state of the world. After completing the prologue (the main quests of the White Garden), the second stage of the world simulation occurs.

During the quest “The Audience”, when you are being prepared to meet with the Emperor, Morvran Voorhis will enter the room. He will ask you several questions related to the second part of the game and directly affecting the world of the third part.

  • Is Ariane La Valette alive or dead? In the prologue of The Witcher 2, Geralt could have killed Aryan or forced him to surrender. Depending on the choice made, the dialogue with Louise La Valette, his mother, will be changed in Novigrad. Obviously, if Aryan is alive, a warm welcome awaits you. And vice versa.
  • Did you get out of Flotsam with Roche or Iorvet? In the first chapter of The Witcher 2, Geralt chooses a side – the head of the Temerian special squad, Vernon Roche, or the chieftain of the “squirrel” gang, Iorvet. Choosing Roche will change his dialogue slightly. Iorveth simply does not exist in The Witcher 3, but you will be attacked by Temerian partisans in retaliation for supporting the squirrels.
  • Saved by Triss or Anais/Saskia? In the third chapter of The Witcher 2, Geralt needed to save Triss or help his friend (Roche or Iorvet) in saving people important to them (Anais or Saskia). Triss's choice, unfortunately, does not affect the third part in any way, even in dialogues.
Choosing Anais or Saskia will add a few new lines of dialogue, but nothing more.
  • Is Sheala de Tanserville alive or not? If Geralt saved her in the epilogue of The Witcher 2, then you will meet Sheala in the story and will be able to talk with her a little. If she is dead, then you will only find her corpse. However, the log entry in both cases will be the same, obviously this is a bug.
  • Is Leto alive or dead? If in the epilogue of The Witcher 2 Geralt saved the life of the kingslayer Leto from Guleta, then in the third part a whole quest with his participation will be added.

By choosing the second option disabling the simulation the state of the world in the game will remain default, as the developers intended it to be. This will deprive you of several quests and some phrases in dialogue.

Choosing the third option transferring saves will allow you to transfer your game data from The Witcher 2. In principle, the main options transferred through saves are described above. But there are 2 funny moments that cannot be simulated; they only appear when transferring saves.

  • If in the second part of The Witcher, in the first chapter, you completed the quest “Hangover”, then Geralt will have a tattoo of a special squad on his neck. It will carry over into the third part of the game.
  • If in The Witcher 1, in the prologue, you slept with Triss, then transferred saves from the first Witcher to the second part, and then from The Witcher 2 to the third, then you will have several new funny dialogues with Triss and Yennefer in Kaer Morhen, as well as the opportunity to find and give Triss her earrings.

Transferring saves

Transferring saves is a very buggy step in the game, many people have problems at this stage. Below are some tips on how to minimize the chance of bugs arising due to save transfers.

First, download the latest patch for the game. Developers fix their mistakes, so there is less chance of encountering bugs in later versions.

Please note that to transfer you need the latest save, which is created by the Witcher 2 game automatically after talking with Leto. When you select a save in The Witcher 3, you will be offered all the saves, but you need to choose the one that was created at the very end of the game. To avoid encountering an error, I advise you to delete all saves from the Witcher 2 game except the last one. If desired, they can be copied to another folder.

  • If, when creating a new game, you do not see the “Transfer saves from The Witcher 2” function, then the saves are stored in the wrong folder. By default, the Witcher 3 game looks for saves in the folder From: \Users\ [username]\My Documents\ Witcher 2\gamesaves.
  • If you played the version Steam games, then the saves will be stored in the folder From: \Program Files(x86)\Steam\userdata\ [user number]\20290\remote. You need to copy the desired save and move it to the folder From: \Users\ [username]\My Documents\Witcher 2\gamesaves.
  • It is possible that you do not have the Witcher 2 game installed and you downloaded the saves from the Internet, then you also need them in the My Documents folder ( From: \Users\ [username]\My Documents) create a folder “Witcher 2” (without quotes), and in it a folder “gamesaves” (without quotes) and transfer the saves here.

To check whether you transferred the save correctly, you need to go through the prologue. While preparing to talk to the Emperor, Morvran Voorhis will enter the room, if he only asks you what happened to his soldiers, then most likely you did everything right.

Conclusion

In principle, transferring saves from previous parts does not greatly affect the game. Unless there is a mission with Leto, which may or may not happen. All other changes are purely cosmetic. On the one hand, it’s a pity that the developers paid so little attention to this issue, but on the other hand, fans of the series are pleased with even such small but soul-warming changes.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is a game that has gathered many fans around it; the very plot of this wonderful game tells the life of the witcher Geralt of Rivia. It follows from this that players will be able to transfer their saves from the first part of the game to the second part, change the simulation of the world and everything gameplay.

Simulation of the game world using Witcher 3 saves:

There are only three key stages in the game before the game starts. Before the game starts, when a new game has already been selected, having decided on the difficulty of the game, the player will have to decide which game world he wants to get into. These simulations of the world are completely different; by choosing one or another simulation, the player must know that these actions will be irreversible.

Three world simulations:

Enable simulation of the game world.
Disabling the simulation of the game world.
Or create your own world, all saves from the last part of the game will be moved to the game folder.

If the gamer chooses the first option, then later he will be able to determine the state of the world. After the first prologue of the game ends, the second stage of the simulation immediately begins.

In the "Audience" quest, when main character is waiting for the emperor, then suddenly Morvran Voorhis enters the room. This character will ask the main character some very important questions, these questions will be related to the second part, and the answers to these questions will affect the passage of the third part of the game.

Morvran Voorhis will ask several questions: Was Arian able to survive or is he still dead? The protagonist's answers will have consequences: If Arian survived, then a very warm and sincere welcome will await the protagonist in Novigrad. Well, if Arian died, then the consequences in Novigrad will unfold in a different way.

The main character will also have to hear this question, namely, with whom did he get out of Flotsam with Iorvet or with Roche? In the passages of the first chapter, the main character chooses the side to whom Roche will join or Iorveth. If the player says that he chose Roche's side, then Arian's attitude towards the main character will improve a little. Well, if the main character answers that he chose the side of Iorveth, then in the end Geralt is attacked by an unknown partisan who once fought with Iorveth.

In the third chapter, the main character had to decide who to save Triss, Anais or Saskia. This question will be asked after the main character answers whether he saved Roche or Iorvet. Tris in the third part does not matter, the choice of this character will not have any consequences or even talk about her. Two other characters, Anais and Saskia, are also not very significant characters in the third part, but the main character will still have to talk about them.

At the end of the epilogue in the second part, the main character could save Sheala de Tanserville. If the player saved her in the past, then he will meet her during the passage of the game. Well, if Sheala is dead, then the main character in the passage of the game finds her corpse on the ground.

The next question is very important, this question sounds like this - Is Leto still alive? If the main character saved his life, then in the next part of the game another interesting quest, where Summer will play the most important role.

If the player chooses the second option and thereby turns off the simulation, then the entire state of the world will not change in any way and will not change, this option was intended by the developers. By choosing this option, the main character will not be able to complete some missions, since they will not be available to him.

When choosing option 3, the player will be able to transfer all of his previous saves to the next part. Basically, almost all the moments of saving were described a little higher. But there are two points that will go into the game only through saves.

In the second part of the game, if the player was able to successfully complete the “Hangover” quest, then in the third part of the game, the main character should have a tattoo of a warrior with a squad. The tattoo will not disappear even in the third part.

In the first part of the game, if the player sleeps with Triss, and then he transfers the save to the second part, and then to the third, then in the third and second parts the main character will experience new funny and interesting moments. Among other things, in the third part there will be additional mission, this is the search for an earring for Triss.

How to transfer Witcher 3 saves and where they are:

For some players, transferring saves takes a very long time; on top of that, some have very deplorable moments while passing the game, crashing from the game, all sorts of bugs, etc. Below we will try to figure out how to transfer saves and thereby avoid encountering various errors during the game.

First of all, in order not to experience any problems with installing saves, you need to download the latest patch for the game. The developers have already released several patches that not only correct some errors and shortcomings, but also improve some gaming features. By downloading the latest patch, the player will be able to rid himself of various errors and shortcomings.

It is important to know that during the game and progress through there will be a lot of saved files, but you only need to transfer one save to another part of the game. Many players do not know this, and therefore they encounter such errors and bugs during the game. In the second part of the game, at the very end of the gameplay, when the main character speaks with Leto, then the last safe is created which needs to be transferred to the third part of the game. To avoid confusion, first of all you need to go to the save folder and delete all saved files except the last one.

When a player enters the game and clicks “Transfer saves from The Witcher 2,” but if an error pops up saying that the saved files are out of place, the game simply cannot find the required file. By default, saved game files in The Witcher 3 are located along the path C: |Users| |username||My Documents| Witcher 2|gamesaves|.

If the player played the Steam version of the game, then all saves are located along the path C: |Program Files(x86) |Steam|userdata| [user number]|20290|remote.

When the desired save is found, you need to move this file to the path C: |Users| |username||My Documents| Witcher 2|gamesaves|.

If the player does not have saves, but he downloaded all the saves from the Internet, then in addition to the downloaded and moved files, first you need to create a folder in My Documents called Witcher 2, and then feel free to move the save.

If all saves have been successfully moved, then the player should go through the prologue. When the player is in the palace and Morvran Voorhis comes into his room, and if this character asks the main character: |What happened to his soldiers|, then congratulations, you have successfully coped with the transfer of saves.

Where can I find saves?

Since "Wild Hunt" is the third part of the great game series, many fans know very well where the folder with all the saves and settings files is located. For those who first became acquainted with the game "The Witcher 3", where the saves are located is a mystery.

All Save files are stored on the system disk in the "My Documents" folder. You can open it through the Start menu or by following the path Users\Username\Documents\The Witcher 3\gamesaves. It is into this folder that you need to copy third-party saves.

You may ask: where can I download them? The answer is simple: all files can be found on the Internet for free access on various game portals. To protect yourself from virus and malicious files, download only from trusted sources. For example, the Playground portal and others like it constantly monitor all materials that are uploaded by users.

Usually all save files are packed into one archive. To unpack it, you will need WinRAR or any other similar archiver program installed. After you unpack the archive, you need to copy the save files to the folder mentioned above. Each individual file is responsible for one slot in the Witcher 3 game menu. You know where the saves are, now all you have to do is download the game and enjoy the process.

What's next?

To do this, run the exe file and wait for The Witcher 3 to load. Now select the “Load game” menu item and click on the required slot. Next to each of them there is a save date, time, location and screenshot. This instruction is only suitable for PC users. This operation cannot be performed on consoles. Now you know where the Witcher 3 saves are.
