Will the game gangster new orleans come out? Gangstar: New Orleans

Gangstar: New Orleans- the name of the next part of the popular Gangstar franchise. The sequel takes place in the American port city of New Orleans. Open world and social components will be available. Screenshots and trailers have not yet been released.

There are only arts. There was more talk about monetization in the March presentation, but Gameloft removed and left no trace of the information. If anything comes up, this article will be updated!

Gangstar: New Orleans is the 12th toy, counting spin-offs! This is the 10th game in the entire main series, including all 2D and 3D releases! This is the 6th part chronologically! This is the 5th part of the series on smartphones! This is the 1st part, which will be Free-to-Play from the very beginning!

In the meantime, let's remember the rich collection of previous games:

2006 — Gangstar: Crime City (Java)

November 2008— Gangstar 2: Kings of L.A (Java, WM, Android, Blackberry, DSi, Freebox)

2008 - Gangster Samurai (Brew) JAPAN

September 23, 2010— Gangstar: Miami Vindication (Java, Android, Bada); 3D (iOS, Android, Mac)

November 10, 2011— Gangstar Rio: City of Saints (Java, Bada, Android); 3D (iOS, Android)

May 29, 2013— Gangstar City (Java, Android, Blackberry); Free-to-Play (Java, Android) - spin-off

There is another game - American Gangster. Perhaps some people think that it also belongs to the series. But that's not true. This project was released in 2007 for Java ME based on the film of the same name. The same engine was used. Therefore, it is easy to confuse him.

As you can see, the Gangstar series has many original issues and spin-offs. As for Gangstar: New Orleans, the release is expected in the third quarter. 2016. In addition, next year we will have another branch - Gangstar Modern War.

Over the past year and a half, things have been going badly for mobile gaming giant Gameloft. A decent number of studios have closed; the free to play model offered by the French has not justified itself. But early this summer, Vivendi bought a stake in Gameloft, becoming its new owner. Some time later, a short video appeared online demonstrating games that would be released in 2016-2017. Among them was Gangstar New Orleans.

The 17-second video immediately surprised fans, who noticed the new comic style, previously used in the completely unsuccessful BiA3. Nothing else was known about the game. And now, almost a month after the scheduled release date, a new game series appears in App Store Philippines.

Let's start with the plot. The game starts with a short cutscene. It shows us a carnival disrupted by an explosion. He was satisfied main character- a ruthless biker who came to New Orleans for profit. Quite a strange decision. The hero doesn't appeal to us at all. And if in Gangstar Rio and Gangstar Vegas the protagonists also did dark things, in general their motives were more or less noble - to destroy the mafiosi, for example, and not to shoot everyone in a row, to kill cops (which, in fact, everyone does, but this is not the main goal of the game). During the first mission, we will be offered a choice of 6 different faces for the hero, which is not bad.

The game introduces us to many interesting personalities who give us tasks: a sorceress; good old “E” (in the game he is now “I”), who hangs out in New Orleans.

Everything looks more cinematic than Gangstar Vegas. Beautiful plans, good animation - all this helps to perceive the game as a film. In general, the quality of the plot has not improved much since the previous game in the series: kill, rob, take, protect - the game does not surprise us with anything extraordinary. Everything is voiced and animated nicely.

Let's move on to the gameplay - the weakest part of Gangstar New Orleans. There is energy in the game, which, moreover, takes a very long time to recover. Missions are various timed tasks: the faster, the more likely you are to get 3 stars for the mission. In general, the missions are more varied than in the previous part, however, due to the absolutely inadequate donation, it becomes difficult to complete the game already at level 4. A new game feature has also appeared: now, having raised our authority, we can capture areas and kill their leaders. This, in turn, brings us passive income.

Unlike previous installments, in Gangstar New Orleans the AI of cops and bandits has become better. It is also encouraging that Gameloft is trying to enliven passers-by on the streets: you can often see young guys taking selfies or drunks staggering from side to side. However, this cannot hide the obvious gameplay problems: very obsessive donation forces us to buy diamonds. Lack of balance, constant lack of ammo, first aid kits, very strong NPCs do not make the game “hardcore”; on the contrary, they make it unbalanced. However, for now this is a soft launch and we can hope that the developers will correct the situation.

Personally, a very interesting change for me was the complete graphical redesign - now the game looks cartoonish. After the announcement, this could mean that now you can save on performance, which means increasing the drawing distance, adding cutscenes, improving animation, adding more people to the streets, enlarging the map.

In general, the animation is not bad. We are now watching how the player beats up townspeople, “squeezes out” cars, kills bosses - everything is beautiful. There are about the same number of people on the streets as in Gangstar Vegas, but Gameloft was completely disappointed with the draw distance. On the iPhone 7, when flying from a helicopter, we see some angular islands, muddy surface of water, boxes of houses. From above, the game looks much worse than Gangstar Rio, as you can see in the screenshot below.

The map in New Orleans is somewhat larger, although it would seem that there was an opportunity to increase it many times over. Now the map is more diverse. We can visit swamps, forests, residential areas, city ports, airports, etc. The graphics in the game are nice: textures high resolution, real-time shadows from everything possible, a dynamic change of day and night, bloom, global occlusion and clouds - these are no longer just ugly textures, they are constantly changing, moving and voluminous.

Physics has also been tweaked. The car behaves better than in Vegas, it doesn’t skid like cardboard box. When we crash into a pedestrian, we really feel him: the car’s movement becomes difficult until we throw him off the hood. Also encouraging is the appearance of a new “action camera”, similar to the camera in a console racing game. game Need for Speed 2015. Every collision is really felt. True, the flaws of the previous parts remain. Quite often you can see how an NPC taxi driver barely touches a tree or pole that is already flying across the entire highway.

Only a few words can be said about management. It's disgusting here. Terrible responsiveness, constant problems: the player cannot jump over a curb or other obstacle. There is no customization for individual control, although this is a useful feature.

What could we expect? Many were waiting for the addition of multiplayer, which would definitely force us to play the game much harder and more often; we could also expect the addition of various weather effects, the addition of shops, restaurants, gyms - all this would make the game more realistic and interesting.

In fact, we have a finished game that has completely lost its soul: there are no interesting, crazy features that we see in GTA, just as there are no attempts left to put the soul into this project, the series. The map is absolutely uninteresting from the point of view of studying, although, it would seem, it would be possible to add even some Easter eggs that attract players so much. In a word, Gangstar New Orleans is a casual game, and there is no point in waiting for the next part of the series, because it’s unlikely that anything will change.

SUMMARIZE:

  • Graphics - 3/5. Poor draw distance, lack of normal water shaders.
  • Physics - 4/5. The problems have not been completely fixed.
  • Plot - 3/5 (nothing new is introduced into the game)
  • Gameplay - 2/5. The game has no incentive to drive around the city and explore it. The player is “forced” to complete tasks and wait until the energy is restored.
  • Sound and music - 4/5. The sound quality of shooting, cars, the city and voice acting is excellent; There aren't many good tracks on the car radio.
  • Average score - 3/5.

The creators tried to take all the best that is in the series and create their own project.
Of course, the most important distinctive feature this particular game is that it has a large size virtual world, which is full of various small game elements and details. The gameplay is sure to please even the most demanding and picky gamer. The developers decided to take the graphics component seriously and even surprise the players a little with the quality of its execution. You can evaluate their work yourself if you download the game to your device right now and temporarily become a “bad guy” operating in New Orleans. Yes, this is where the main events in the game will unfold. Let us remember that in the first part of the series, instead of New Orleans, the scene was Las Vegas. As many people know, New Orleans is a port city, for this reason most missions will take place near the port or in maritime territory. This decision of the developers certainly adds a certain flavor to the game and increases interest in it.
The storyline here is simple and uncomplicated. You will gradually understand everything yourself, receiving more and more new tasks as you progress through the game. In addition, you will be able to use objects that fall under your hand, that is, fully interact with the reality around you. Along the way you will meet not only allies, but also enemies. Only you can decide for yourself what to do with them. All missions are accompanied by dialogues between characters, which is also a plus.

What do we get when we download it to our smartphone? this game? Firstly, colorful graphics and a large map for exploration. Secondly, a lot of missions, weapons and upgrades. Not everything in the game can be resolved solely through negotiations. Due to the fact that your hero is again striving for power over the city, he will one way or another have to fight in battle with the sinister mafiosi and their “sixes”. Therefore, there is no way to do without shootouts. Arsenals of weapons should help you in this difficult struggle. You will need to work hard to create your own team, with the help of which it will be easier to seize control of the city. A solid fleet of vehicles is provided to help you. Any of the cars can be easily stolen on the street by simply throwing the driver out of the car. In stores you will have the opportunity to both buy and forcefully select the necessary guns. And money is not a problem here. You can earn them honestly by getting a job, or go the other way, engaging in robbery and robbery. We guarantee that with every new location, open for you, game process will become more and more exciting. High-quality sound will also add a pleasant feeling to the game. In general, the developers did a great job here!

Let's get down to business.

First of all, New Orleans awaits us large map for exploration, in which players will be able to move freely on land, water and air. The developers have added a considerable number of different cars, motorcycles, boats and helicopters to the game.
