The long-awaited update 9.16 for World of Tanks has been released

Work on update 9.16 was carried out in close cooperation with the players themselves through careful analysis of messages on the forum and in in social networks, as well as making adjustments based on user experience during open beta testing. Therefore, the new features should appeal to many players.

What's new in the game client after update 9.16? Firstly, the sixth tier premium tank Strv m/42-57 Alt A2 is available, which marks the appearance of the Swedish line of vehicles in the near future. Secondly, the redesigned Paris map will appear in random battles. Its first option was previously available in the “Fight to the Last” mode.

Many users no longer need to use third party mods to improve some aspects of the game interface. For example, a two-level “carousel” for displaying equipment or extended combat statistics are available from the client settings.

After update 9.16, all sold vehicles or demobilized crew can be returned independently, without the need to contact the User Support Center for help. Among other innovations, we highlight the following:

  • optimization of the server logic of the visibility system made it possible to reduce the time that elapses between the actual detection of an enemy vehicle and its appearance on the monitor screen;
  • a convenient tool for comparing up to 20 machines at the same time will allow you to select the optimal branch for development;
  • Inter-team battle chat has been disabled for all battle modes, with the exception of training;
  • added the ability to block messages from a specific ally who floods the internal chat with spam;
  • added 30 updated mini-maps;
  • 20 tanks have been remastered for HD quality;
  • many cars have changed reservation indicators;
  • The combat missions screen has been changed and much more.

We also remind you that with the release (from 3:00 (MSK) on October 4) 9.16 will be completed.

What's new?

The first "Swede"

We haven't added to the game recently new technology, because we were busy setting up and debugging the internal components of the game, as well as correcting the most significant shortcomings for players. It's time to release new vehicles onto the battlefield! In this update, the first will appear in World of Tanks Swedish tank Strv m/42-57 Alt A2. In addition, this is the first Tier VI premium medium tank in the game equipped with a magazine loading system. Sales start in the Premium Store - October 5th.

Paris map

Another long-awaited innovation is the redesigned Paris map. Once it was available in the “Fight to the Last” mode, but now players will be able to fight with it in random battles.

Popular modifications

We continue to improve the interface. In update 9.16, we added a number of popular mods, including a two-level “carousel” of vehicles, which allows you to display more vehicles in the Hangar.
To make the combat interface more informative, we also added special indicators that provide the most complete information about the situation on the battlefield. You will be able to see the amount of damage each shot deals, the amount of damage blocked and received, and the direction of the attack on you. Damage indicators will also be useful when performing LBZ. In addition, players will be able to customize the display of the most important indicators in their opinion and disable unnecessary ones directly in the settings menu.

Restoration of equipment and crew

There is no longer a need to contact the Customer Support Center to restore an accidentally sold special or premium vehicle, or to return a demobilized crew. You can restore them yourself with just a few clicks right in the game client.

Visibility improvements

We also worked on the server logic. Its significant optimization has made it possible to reduce the time that passes between the actual detection of an enemy vehicle and its appearance on your screen.

Comparison of equipment

You can select up to 20 vehicles at the same time and compare any of their configurations (basic, current or selected directly in the comparison window), with a crew of any level of training. You can choose machines for comparison from those available in the Hangar, those planned for study, or those that friends have. Equipment can be of any nation, class and level.

Battle chat

Sometimes team interaction and fighting spirit in World of Tanks are greatly hindered by offensive messages in the battle chat. Many players consider this a serious problem, even though the game has a properly functioning ban system. Taking into account your wishes, we have decided to disable inter-team battle chat for all battle modes, with the exception of training. In addition, you can now instantly block messages from a specific ally who is annoying you.

New mini maps

We have fixed a number of problems that you reported after the release of update 9.15.1, and also added 30 updated mini-maps: “Cliff”, “El-Hallouf”, “Ensk”, “Erlenberg”, “ Fisherman's Cove"", "Kharkov", "Lasville", "Malinovka", "Polar Region", "Murovanka", "Prokhorovka", "Swamp", "Paris", "Widepark", "Airfield", "Winterberg", " Lost City"", "Live Oaks", "Siegfried Line", "Mittengard", "Monastery", "Redshire", "Mines", "Ruinberg", "Steppes", "Quiet Coast", "Fjords", "Highway", " Himmelsdorf, Westfield.

Changes to the combat mission screen

A tool has been added that allows you to track the completion of combat missions. Players will be able to receive complete information about combat missions directly in the Hangar, and will also see notifications about the completion of tasks or individual conditions directly in battle. In addition, new management options have been added that allow you to view a list of tasks, organized by type, for the selected machine. You can select a tank in the Hangar and immediately see complete information on current and completed tasks. At your request, we have also added a rewards panel.

World of Tanks supertests are divided into several stages: project testing (new maps, vehicle balance, etc.) and version testing (a set of update elements).

After the supertest they begin general tests, in which all players can take part.

Changes to the research tree

As noted previously, we are planning to make a number of changes to the research tree to make it more consistent with the current version of the game. In update 9.17.1, the transition to researching the latest levels of technology, in particular technology from Germany, Japan and the USA, will be simplified. Some balance issues will also be fixed and new vehicles will be added.

Full list:

  • Germany

“Maus” will have logical predecessors - VK 100.01 (P) and Mäuschen, extremely similar to it in gameplay and role on the battlefield, which will replace VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. A and VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. B. at levels VIII and IX. These will be large, heavily armored tanks with mediocre mobility, but good weapons and excellent armor. "Mouse" will significantly speed up reloading, improve the comfort of the gun and strengthen the frontal part of the armor.

In order not to exclude the “sneakers” (VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. A and VK 45.02 (P) Ausf. B) from the game, we will transfer them to new branch and we’ll put a car at level X that will suit their playing style. In terms of gameplay, it will be similar to VK 72.01(K), which could be obtained as a prize on the Global Map.
As a result of the revision of the vehicle branches, some characteristics of the German vehicles will change. heavy tanks. In turn, some of this nation's medium tanks will also be improved. We will soon publish a full list of balance changes - stay tuned!

  • Japan

The top “Japanese” Type 4 and Type 5 Heavy are rarely seen on the battlefield. With the current performance characteristics settings, they simply do not have enough power and firepower to fight back.

On the other hand, Japanese "heavies" of levels V-VIII have very effective high-explosive shells. To make the evolution of vehicles smoother and more logical, while maintaining the unique feature of the branch, we will give high-explosive shells and guns to the top vehicles.

For the “Americans” T28, T28 Prototype and T95, their current gun and armor characteristics are no longer enough to be effective on the battlefield. They lack speed, and we plan to significantly increase it.

Vehicle balance changes

We have carefully analyzed combat statistics and made a number of changes to improve the combat characteristics of some tanks. This measure will allow them to confidently resist high-level technology and will have a positive effect on the game balance:

  • T110E5

The T110E5 commander's cupola was almost impossible to penetrate with standard shells, except for a small vulnerable spot. We changed the armor parameters of the turret and equalized the thickness of the armor. The turret is still well protected, but can now be penetrated by standard shells.

  • Grille 15

The engine power, reverse speed, and gun depression angles were changed so that the Grille 15 could better perform the role of a tank destroyer. By reducing the damage per minute value, Grille 15 is now comparable in effectiveness to other vehicles of its level.

  • T-34-85M

We have changed the T-34-85M's gun and armor penetration parameters to improve the vehicle's effectiveness. After balance changes, the tank turned into a less mobile, but more protected analogue of the T-34-85.

  • Centurion Mk. I and Centurion Mk. 7/1

Both Centurions have become more mobile. The parameters of their guns have also been improved to secure their place in the ranks of medium tanks.

  • FV4202

We have increased the top speed of the FV 4202 to match the speed of the Centurions.

Damage panel improvements

We continue to add useful elements to the game that were previously available to players in third-party modifications. In this version, a damage received panel will be added to the combat interface. It will display feeds showing various events: the amount of damage received, the type of projectiles, critical hits, as well as the name and type of equipment that damaged your car. At the same time, we will remove feeds that were of little use: repeating event feeds and messages in the damage panel will now only display the total amount of damage caused by a series of shots.
Finally, in version 9.17.1 we will add new setting, which will allow you to adjust the width of dynamic damage indicators that display the amount of damage received and blocked by your car. These changes will make it easier to assess the ever-changing combat situation and allow you to quickly change your play style.

Comparison of equipment

We have studied your requests to expand the list of parameters for comparing equipment and added new parameters to version 9.17.1. Now players will be able to add various equipment, crew skills, equipment and camouflage to the comparison.

Changes to “simplified” performance characteristics

In the game you have to choose from more than 450 vehicles, so it is very important to provide the most complete information about each vehicle. This applies to both already purchased equipment and vehicles that the player plans to research and purchase. In update 9.17.1, we are introducing the display of simplified characteristics, which will give the player much more information when studying vehicles. Equipment that is activated in battle and also affects the combat characteristics of the vehicle (for example, Stereo Tube and Camouflage Net) will be displayed in the usual way. In addition, the player will see the values of bonuses from installing certain equipment.

Also, by popular demand, we have replaced the “damage with a basic projectile” and “armor penetration with a basic projectile” ranges with average values for each parameter. They will be displayed in the Hangar and in vehicle preview mode. The current value ranges will still be displayed in tooltips.

Finally, players will have more information available when choosing projectile types. The default type of projectile will be noted in the tooltip when you hover over it, and you will be able to study its characteristics (in comparison with other types) in the tooltip, which will greatly facilitate the selection of the most optimal ammunition for battle.

Fortified areas

The format of battles for the Fortified Area will be replaced with a new one called “Offensive”. This is still a series of battles in a tug-of-war format with three lines of defense, but with a number of significant differences:

  • There are no more looting of the Fortified Area; if a clan is defeated, it does not lose anything, and the winner’s earnings depend on the level of his own Fortified Area.
  • There is no longer any need to defend the Fortified Area 6 days a week. Battles in the mode are carried out only at will.
  • Battles start at a fixed time, and the opponent for the attack is selected automatically from those available in the queue.

The refusal to plunder in case of defeat and the mandatory defense of the Fortified Area significantly changed the economy of the regime. As a result, the Office, which this moment mainly used by “top” clans that have earned their authority in battle, it would become available to a significantly larger number of clans, which could lead to an imbalance in the game economy as a whole. To replace the advantages of the Chancellery, a competition system is being introduced - “War Games”, where clans participating in sorties and offensives will be able to compete for prizes in several categories. Prize winners will be rewarded with gold, advanced reserves and other rewards.

IMPORTANT: War games will start some time after update 9.17.1.

The battle room, both in sorties and in offensives, can be opened for legionnaires who can join your squad (as in team or company battles). The list of open battle rooms will be available to everyone in a special interface.

Sounds

Great news for all fans of non-standard sounds in the game! With update 9.17.1, access to audio files will be available. Now players who previously used third-party modifications will be able to change any game sound to their liking.
As for the game itself, in 9.17.1 there will be a transition to the improved Wwise 2016.2.

Improved minimaps

Mini-maps have been redesigned: " Sacred Valley", "Prokhorovka" and "Tank training ground" (for the "Combat training" mode).

Main changes:

  1. A ford with islands overgrown with grass has been added to the swampy part of the location. Near the islands there are enough convenient positions for firing at vehicles in the area of the railway bridge.
  2. The perimeter of the swamp has been improved, and new positions have been added to control the central part of the location, as well as to fire over long distances.
  3. In the area of the upper base, defensive positions have been slightly improved.
  4. The river bed was reworked to make interaction with the swamp more comfortable.

List of changes in version 0.9.17.1 ST1 compared to 0.9.17

— The “Game in Ladder” mode has been removed from the client; players will be able to view their statistics by this regime in the Achievements tab.
— In the graphics settings window, the “Mode” and “Window Size” settings were swapped, and for the “Window (no frame)” mode, the ability to select the resolution was added, which may be in demand for streamers with one monitor.
— Implemented automatic selection of the correct display aspect ratio and, as a result, removed the corresponding item from the graphics settings menu
— Added the ability to compare tanks taking into account the skills and abilities of the crew, installed equipment and equipment, selected ammunition and camouflage
— Added a new way to connect game mods, in which all the content of each mod is packaged into one file

— The following changes have been implemented to interface elements:
1. Combat effectiveness ribbons.
* Implemented the ability to display two or more feeds for the same event in battle. For example, when causing damage to two vehicles with one shot (or causing damage to two different vehicles with different shots in a very short period of time), not one tape will be displayed with the amount of damage and the name of the vehicle (to which the last damage was dealt), but two different tapes with displaying damage for each vehicle. This logic will be implemented for all combat effectiveness tapes.
* If the enemy is destroyed, the player does not need to see a tape with the number of critical modules of the destroyed vehicle (after the “Destroyed” tape). The display of the “Critical Hit” ribbon will be disabled in this case.
* Added a new tape “Damage from falling” (when damage is caused to the enemy by the landscape (physics)). This event will be displayed separately in the detailed damage log. This feed will also be added to the settings to allow you to customize the display.
2. Damage direction indicators.
a) Graphic materials for damage direction indicators have been changed (to relieve the burden on the combat interface).
b) Added a setting that will allow you to turn on/off the display of a dynamic damage indicator (changes in the width of the indicator depending on the amount of damage received/exposed). By default, the setting will be disabled; indicators of the same size will be displayed in battle.
c) Indicator timings have been changed and animation has been added.
3. Additional information has been added to the settings, explaining the principles of some feedback settings in battle.
4. Added information about receiving damage or crit:
a) in tapes;
b) to a detailed log.
5. Damage or crit received from an ally will also be recorded in the tape and in a detailed log. The color of the ribbon and detailed log message will be the same for both damage received from an enemy and damage received from an ally (red for damage, orange for crit).
6. The projectile type has been added to the detailed log. “Gold” shells will be highlighted in gold. The player will not be able to optionally enable/disable the indication that the projectile was “gold” in the settings. The type of projectile is not added to ribbons and fire indicators. The projectile type is added only to detailed log messages for the following cases:
a) Taking damage from a shot.
b) Receiving critical damage.
c) Receiving damage blocked by armor.
7. Updated detailed log settings:
a) Added the option to display a whole block of detailed damage log: damage received, critical and damage blocked by armor.
b) Added a setting to move the display of an entire block of the detailed damage log to a new location: display of damage received, crit and damage blocked by armor to the right of your own team’s ears.
8. The fonts of all damage log feeds have been improved.
9. Fonts and backgrounds for detailed log messages have been improved.
10. The texts of the damage log settings window have been improved.
11. When all the summary indicators of the detailed log are disabled, the detailed log itself can be displayed to the player (in versions 9.16 and 9.17, when all three summary indicators were disabled, the detailed log was forced to be hidden).
12. When a vehicle is hit by rapid-fire guns, tapes and detailed log messages will display the total sum of the series of shots.
* The mechanism for placing members of one platoon when loading a battle has been improved (teammates are placed on the map as close as possible based on the capabilities of the map and the number of platoons).
