DESCRIPTION

Swing, swing and swing some more. Many WoW players - beginners and not-so-devote a huge amount of time to this activity, which is why we are devoting the first review of the addon to this activity. They are downloading new characters, alts, twinks. In order to level up quickly, without wasting time searching for places and objects to complete quests, you must either be a sophisticated World of Warcraft guru with a phenomenal memory, or use the help of a good addon.

In our opinion, such an addon is QuestHelper. This addon is relatively young, it appeared at the end of November 2007 and by the end of the year it had gained enormous popularity.

What is QuestHelper? Essentially, this is a collection of waypoints for quests, sorted by distance to them. As a result, we always know which of the quests available in the quest log to do, where to turn them in and how to spend the minimum time on it, since the program calculates the optimal routes to the places where the quests are completed and turned in. When doing this, it takes into account not only the distances to objects, but also the complexity of their implementation.

Minimap

What needs to be done first (according to the addon) is marked on your minimap. If the location of the task is outside the current location, then QH will show you the way to get there - for example, to the border between locations or through flight points.

World map

All tasks that you have in your quest diary are displayed by QH on the world map in the form of small icons. They are connected by a running dotted line. This is how the addon shows you in what order to complete the quests. By hovering the mouse over the icon, you can find out the name of the quest and short description what needs to be done to complete it.

When you right-click on an icon, a pop-up menu appears with a list of tasks in that area.

It's important to remember that QH menus are a bit unusual and don't close on their own. To close them, you need to click on them right click mice.

Priorities

There are 5 priority levels – Highest, High, Normal, Low and Lowest.

Most jobs have Normal priority by default. Timed tasks have High priority. User-created jobs have the highest priority.

QH will try to organize jobs so that those with the highest priority are executed first. The only exceptions are those cases when a task with the highest priority depends on a lower priority one. You will notice that these jobs have a green arrow in the priority menu and they do not use the priority you set.

You can adjust priorities and use them as hints on what order to do what in, without painstakingly managing a list of routes.

Filters

There are 3 types of filters you can use to ignore quests. They are managed through console command/qh filter.

The first filter, which is always enabled by default, is the level filter. This will instruct QH to ignore quests that may be too difficult to complete solo or in the current party. You can set the offset for the quest level using the command /qh level< 347355340367345355350345 >. For example qh level +2 shows quests up to two levels higher than your current one. This value is set by default.

The second filter is a zone filter and is disabled by default. It disables the display of quests that are located outside the current location. There is usually no need to enable this filter, as some quests may have prerequisites in the form of other quests in different zones.

The third and final filter disables the display of uncompleted quests. For example, if you don’t want to see uncompleted quests, but just want to turn in completed ones, turn on this filtering.

All filtered quests can be viewed with the /qh hidden command and also by turning on their display by selecting the Show item in the menu.

Sharing

Sharing QH allows you to share quests with other party members and in turn combine your routes so that quests are completed together and most efficiently.

Please note that sharing missions only informs party members of your missions, your progress on them, and the priorities you have set. Information about items falling out or monsters being found is not transmitted.

Each party member will calculate his own route based on the data received from you. Based on the fact that you complete tasks together, which is what gave birth to this feature, your routes will end up being almost identical. This way you can follow them and not worry about anyone falling behind. Tasks shared between several users will not be removed from the maps until everyone completes them.

Custom jobs are not submitted by default. But this can be done manually, in the task menu that drops down by pressing the right button.

Job priorities are transmitted globally. If someone changes the priority of a task, this will immediately be reflected on the cards of all party members. This will help keep your routes in identical condition, which is very helpful. Of course, if your party members are sane people.

Cartographer

Cartographer is another very popular map addon that has its own waypoint system. QH allows you to display jobs using Cartographer's routing system.

Conclusion

QuestHelper– an excellent and extremely useful addon. The only drawbacks we note are rare inaccuracies regarding quests in Outland and an archaic way of controlling the addon via the command line, which can cause difficulties for untrained users.

FAQ
Question answer

Question:
For me and my friend, QuestHelper gives different messages and does not want to work. An example of one of QuestHelper's messages: "Your saved data isn`t compatible with this version of QuestHelper. Use a new version, or delete your saved variables"?

Answer:
Your old QuestHelper saves are incompatible with the installed version of QuestHelper. There are two solutions to the problem:
1) Exit the game, go to the folder (worldofwarcraft) with the game and completely delete the Cache folder, then in the WTF folder search for the QuestHelper.lua files, many QuestHelper.lua and QuestHelper.lua.bak files will be found - delete them.
2) Go into the game, enter /qh purge in the console (chat), a warning will appear that the entire QuestHelper database will be deleted. Below you will see a list of commands, one of them looks like /qh purge "any code of 8 characters ". Next, enter into the console (chat) /qh purge "any code of 8 characters" that was displayed to you earlier.

Question:
In the upper right corner of the game some strange messages in English are displayed and do not disappear, maybe to complete a quest?

Answer:
This is a display of the quest log, it shows the nearest quest goals. To remove it, enter /qh track into the console (chat).

Question:
QuestHelper writes at startup: "The localization of your saved data does not match the localization of your WoW client." And it doesn't work!

Answer:
You need to delete the saved QuestHelper data using the /qh purge command.

Question:
I installed QuestHelper, everything worked, but it doesn’t show some quests! Why?

Answer:
By default, QuestHelper shows quests up to 2 levels above yours. This can be easily changed by entering the command /qh level +10 into the console (chat), quests up to level 10 above yours will be shown.

Question:
QuestHelper writes various, incomprehensible messages under the direction arrow.

Answer:
Update Cartographer to latest version or update the Cartographer file at: "Cartographer\libs\LibAbacus-3.0\LibAbacus-3.0.lua".

Question:
In the game, QuestHelper sometimes shows errors, but they do not affect the operation of QuestHelper in any way. How can I remove them?

Answer:
There are still small flaws in the addon, which the author eliminates as new versions of QuestHelper are released. To disable the display of lua errors, go to the game menu - interface - help - uncheck the Display Lua Errors box.

Question:
QuestHelper takes up a lot of RAM over time and sometimes causes the game to freeze!

Answer:
This is a known problem with QuestHelper 0.48. The problem will be solved in the next version. At the moment, the problem is solved by entering the /reloadui command into the console (chat) to reload all addons.

Question:
I installed QuestHelper, but there is no arrow indicating the nearest quest?

Answer:
To do this, you must have the Cartographer addon installed; QuestHelper uses its route system to indicate the path. You may also need to reinstall Cartographer to a newer version.

Question:
In the QuestHelper menu it writes: “Hidden goals/something/I don’t know how to complete.” How can I understand this?

Answer:
The addon is not yet fully localized and has some bugs. But here it is important not to confuse “goal” with “task”. One task can have several goals (usually two goals: where to complete it, where to submit it). This inscription says that it is the “goal” that is unknown, and not all the “tasks” as a whole.

Question:
How to remove the arrow indicating the path in QuestHelper?

Answer:
Enter /qh cartwp in the console (chat), which will disable the use of route marks of the Cartographer addon. To enable it, again use the /qh cartwp command.

Question:
QuestHelper's directional arrow constantly changes direction, the routes on the map are constantly changing.

Answer:
Go to the QuestHelper menu. Set performance to 20%.

Answer:
Yes, since version 0.47.13 QuestHelper supports Russian by default, to enable Russian you need to enter /qh locale ruRU in the console (chat).

Question:
I installed QuestHelper according to the instructions, QuestHelper appeared in the addons menu, I turned it on, but it doesn’t work! I followed all the recommendations in the FAQ section, but no results?

Answer:
Your version of QuestHelper is not compatible with the version of your WoW server. Install QuestHelper for your WoW server.

Question:
In the QuestHelper menu I accidentally turned off the QuestHelper button, which is located on the world map. What to do?

Answer:
Type /qh button in the console (chat).

Question:
I downloaded QuestHelper for Russian WoW, but it doesn’t show quests on the Russian server?

Answer:
For correct operation, you need to enable support for the Russian language, enter /qh locale ruRU into the console (chat). If QuestHelper does not work, then use the answer to the first question, the 1st or 2nd solution. Link here.

Question:

I am level 60, on the Russian server WoW QuestHelper shows about 5-10% of quests, why?
Answer:
The QuestHelper database has not yet been completely collected, and while the 1st level shows 100% of quests, the 70th level has about 1%. If you have not yet measured your strength with Malygos, but are planning to organize a raid on the blue dragon, you To help - this video guide. The video shows and voices in extreme detail the tactics of fighting the boss, which is suitable for both modes: for 10 and 25 people.

The QuestHelper addon is a powerful tool for completing tasks - quests. Allows you to complete quests as quickly and efficiently as possible. Includes database all tasks existing in WoW, the location of all quest items and npcs and shows the shortest route to them. All this together makes leveling up your character as fast and efficient as possible. If you still doubt the addon, I’ll just say one thing: the total number of downloads at the moment is almost 50 millions!

How to install QuestHelper

How to enable QuestHelper

If for some reason the addon did not activate itself (this happens extremely rarely), you need to go into the game (character selection window), at the bottom left there is a “Modifications” button, when clicked, the window for enabling addons will open. You need to find the line that says “QuestHelper” and put a checkmark next to it, and at the top of the window there is a checkbox “Outdated modifications” - put a checkmark there too. Let's go into the game and check the result.

If after these steps the addon does not turn on, you have 2 options:

  • You unpacked the archive incorrectly.
  • You downloaded the archive not for you World versions of Warcraft.

QuestHelper and 6.2

Unfortunately, the author abandoned further development of the addon and there is no version for 6.2, however, anyone can take on the development. To do this, you will need to write here.

Setting up QuestHelper

I won't touch graphic settings addon, but I’ll only tell you about slash commands.

  • /qh help - list of available commands.
  • /qh settings — settings window.
  • /qh hidden - shows hidden tasks.
  • /qh ftime — displays the approximate flight time.
  • /qh share - enables/disables the exchange of data on the status of the task with members of your group or raid.
  • /qh button - turns on/off the QuestHelper icon on the mini map.

Questions and problem solving with QuestHelper

  • QuestHelper does not work for me or gives an error.
    • Enter the slash command /qh error. This will show the first error it encountered. After that, try the commands /qh hardreset and /qh treset (will delete ALL settings!).
  • I don't see the list of tasks on the right.
    • You may have hidden them - enter /qh hidden.

I would like to say on my own behalf that the last three teams solve 99% of the problems.

  • My FPS (frame rate) drops and the game starts to lag.
    • Remove or disable all addons that work with the CPU.
    • Enter the slash commands: /console set scriptProfile 0, /console reloadui.
    • If there is no difference before and after, try the /qh perf 50% command, it will significantly reduce the CPU consumption of the addon.
  • The addon consumes a lot of RAM.
    • Currently, QuestHelper consumes approximately 15MB, which is very little by modern standards. It's doubtful that this will have any impact on performance.
  • How to remove the QuestHelper arrow above a character?
    • Right-click on it and select “Hide/Hide”. If this doesn't help - /qh arrow or /qh tomtom. You can move the addon arrow by holding the right button (having previously unlocked it).
  • How do I enable the direction arrow?
    • /qh arrow.
  • The icons on the map/mini map are too large.
    • /qh scale X%, where X is a number from 10 to 100.
