After a little training on the punching bag, the main character of the game will have his first fight, with a fairly easy opponent who can be defeated, even if you started the game for the first time. I really liked the battle animation, despite the minimalist graphics, in which the fighters are made in the form of dark figures and which makes them seem very similar to each other, the characters’ movements are very well designed, there are various effects in the form of slowdown when delivering beautiful blows, which, however, do not have to be exact. When delivering so-called critical hits, the battle image stops literally for 1-2 seconds so that the player can enjoy the moment or have time to come to his senses and think about his further actions. It all depends on who struck, you or your opponent.

By the way, despite its minimalism and not the largest weight of the toy (about 90 megabytes), Shadow Fight 2 may not work on weak devices as you would like. For example, all my battles take place in slow motion, which doesn’t really interfere, but fast speed everything looks much more dynamic and therefore more interesting. At the end of the battle you will be rewarded with several coins. The number of coins directly depends on how strong the opponent is, and on the number of different combinations of attacks that you used during the battle. But in any case, you won’t leave without coins, even if you lose. The main character is immortal, so defeats only make him stronger.

If your first fight was exclusively with your fists, then in the future you can already buy a weapon, without which you cannot do without in a battle with difficult opponents. The choice of weapons is quite large; there is everything that the soul of a damned samurai desires. Only from the very beginning only knives are available, but as the game progresses, one by one, other types of weapons are opened, which each time become more and more powerful and cause more and more damage to the enemy. In the future, for money, it will be possible to increase its power using in-game currency. But it will be very difficult to upgrade the same type of weapon; there will come a time when the price of upgrade will be too high and it will be easier to buy a new, more advanced type.

I concluded for myself that new is not always something good. I had a need to change batons to sabers that were more destructive in terms of attack. As it turned out, it was more convenient for me to fight with clubs; I dealt more critical blows to my opponents. Only it became quite expensive to upgrade batons, and the strength of new opponents became too high, so, in any case, it was easier to switch to a new weapon, which, however, can always be exchanged for any other one purchased earlier. By the way, you cannot sell old weapons. The same applies to armor, which also needs to be purchased in order to survive in battle and not be knocked out at the very first blow of a strong opponent. And this is quite possible if you are fighting an opponent who is simply beyond your character’s strength.

It is worth paying attention to the inscriptions indicating the strength of the opponent. If the word “impossible” or “crazy” is written, then it is better to save up money to buy new equipment and not enter into battle yet, since the chances of winning will still be very low. Although it is possible if you professional player and spend all day honing various techniques and improving your reaction, then it is possible to win. As you buy or upgrade weapons and armor, you will notice that the enemy's rating will decrease, and when he reaches the "difficult" level, it is worth trying to fight him. But it’s better to wait until the level is “normal” or, ideally, “easy”, it will be much easier. Although it is more profitable, of course, to defeat everyone high level complexity, this will leave more money for the purchase of new equipment due to the fact that you will save money on upgrading the old one.

Main menu

In the main menu of the game there are five icons that are not labeled in any way, but the images of which can be used to navigate quite well. By clicking on the very first icon, we find ourselves in the main character’s house, where we can only practice punches on a punching bag and nothing more. The most interesting thing awaits us on the second, if you count from above, icon, which depicts mountains. We find ourselves in the main campaign, divided into 6 acts. Every act has main boss, who will not even want to fight with you until you defeat all his assistants. And it would have been impossible to defeat him at the very beginning of development. On the map of the first act, which is called "Rebirth", only one icon is initially available with the inscription "Lynx", which is the name of the main boss of this stage of the campaign. By defeating his assistant, you will gradually unlock new icons, along with which new game modes will become available.

This is, first of all, a “tournament” in which 24 opponents await you, and a “survival” mode that allows you to save up money for new equipment. The more opponents you can defeat in this mode, the higher the reward. Each time the opponents become more and more difficult, but your character’s life is practically not restored, only just a little. But basically, in the game, battles take place according to the standard classical scheme, namely, until two victories of any of the opponents. That is, no more than three rounds, so there is always room for error. But as I can judge from some screenshots of the game, it is likely that in the future the battles will go up to three victories. Now I have reached the first boss, in the fight against him you already need to win three victories, it is possible that such a scheme only exists in fights with bosses.

Among other things, there is a “duel” mode in which you can fight with a live opponent over the Internet. The mode is interesting because your progress in the game is not taken into account in any way and you can fight on equal terms with any player. After all, randomly selected equipment is given out there, and you can get very good money for winning. Starting from the second act, another icon will appear called “test”, where you will need to complete various tasks and, again, get money for it.

The third item in the main menu is weapons and armor. To win a battle you need good protection and powerful weapons. Having just one thing will make it almost impossible to hold out. You can improve your equipment using gold coins or crystals. If there are no special problems with earning coins, then crystals are quite difficult to obtain and only in small quantities. It’s a pity, because with their help you can buy unique items that would make the player’s life much easier. After completing the first act, throwing weapons will become available, and after the second, magical abilities will become available. Thus, during the battle, additional buttons and options will appear on the screen.

Methods of obtaining crystals: in addition to donating, when crystals need to be exchanged for your real money, you can complete various tasks and watch videos. But for this you need an Internet connection, for each video view you are awarded one crystal. There is one method that allows you to wind up these gems using this video. After watching the video, you just need to set the time in the settings for the day ahead, and you can watch the video again, and so on ad infinitum. Some items of armor and weapons are only available upon order, and in order not to wait 5 or more minutes for production, you again need to pay in crystals. The fourth menu item is various skills, descriptions of techniques and strikes, as well as another way to get crystals - to do various actions a certain number of times during battle and receive a reward for this. Even for a certain number of defeats you can get one crystal, but a larger reward is not provided. In addition, there is a skill tree that opens its branches with each new level of experience. Usually these skills come one after another, but sometimes they branch and the user has the opportunity to choose what he needs most. For example, reduce damage to the enemy’s head or body.

Battle

A lot has already been said about the battles in my review, all that remains is to pay attention to certain details. Since all opponents are similar to each other, it can be confusing how to distinguish yourself from the enemy. To do this, the developers made sure that the main character was highlighted below. But I still get confused sometimes, because during a fight my gaze is sometimes directed a little higher. It would be better if they made opponents of a different color, in my opinion. However, these will no longer be quite shadows.

Each round lasts 99 seconds, and I haven't yet had a situation where the time runs out and someone gets knocked out. There are no fatalities/brutalities at the end of the fight, and this is not necessary at all. The more hits you deal, the higher the anger will be and the stronger your character will be. If one of the opponents is initially much stronger than the other, then with the help of a critical hit he can knock the weapon out of the hands of the enemy, who will have to fight with his bare hands.

When you press pause, you can choose one of several actions - turn off/on the sound, exit the battle, while losing progress if you are in survival mode. Another button is responsible for resuming the game.

At the top of the screen you can see several icons with indicators of experience and energy. A total of 5 energy bars are available, that is, you can fight with opponents five times, after which the main character will get tired and need a little rest. As a rule, one energy bar is restored in 10 minutes, but you can increase the energy level using crystals. At the very beginning of the game, I had an incident when I ran out of energy. Since this happened for the first time, my character's mentor decided to give me crystals so that I could spend them on restoring my strength. I decided that I could wait a while to replenish my energy and at the same time save crystals. But that was not the case, the window in which it was offered to buy energy did not disappear even after restarting the game. I had to buy it, although I planned to spend the crystals on equipment. By the way, in the game store endless energy is sold for only $50. A chest of crystals costs the same amount.

By clicking on the experience scale, you can find out its exact amount. Each level of experience gives not only new skills, but also automatically increases the character's strength. The remaining icons on top show the amount of gold and crystals. And by clicking on the green cross, you can go to the store. However, this can also be done by tapping on the game currency icons. Then it’s a little unclear why this button with a cross is needed. Apparently, just to have something to click on.

Results

The game was developed in Russia, so it is a little strange that for some time it was not available for download in the Russian Federation and did not have Russian in the interface. Now new versions of the game have been released and will be released, completely in Russian (except for the inscriptions that pop up during the battle), and you can download them in the official store Google Play. Along with new versions, new features, additional locations, more powerful weapons, etc. gradually appeared. The basis of the gameplay of Shadow Fight 2 are spectacular fights with various opponents, each of which gradually brings the main character closer to one of the bosses.
